Have to imagine Babcock fits the Wild like a glove. Question is if they will pay for his services. He would excel with a team like theirs. Solid structurally and can grind out wins.

Hell no. I want Babcock nowhere near this team. Especially with the direction the team is going. They are getting younger and need someone to help the kids develop.

Two things I don’t understand if their goal this season is making the playoffs: 1) trading Zucker, and 2) not trading for a goalie.

When we traded Zucker, it was clear Guerin finally convinced Leipold we need a full rebuild. Expect more moves.

It's weird they didn't just wait until the offseason, though. Maybe Guerin has someone he wants to hire sooner rather than later to shorten the acclimation period.

They were likely moving on from him in the offseason anyway and shifting Bruce to the consultant gig in his contract, but the timing is just odd. Would have made more sense if they had a plan in place to bring in Gallant or another outside coach to finish the season, but letting Evason take over doesn't exactly scream "upgrade" over Bruce.

We should have kidnapped Brodin last night.

That is odd to begin a rebuild and fire a coach with 1/4 of the season left when his contract is up anyway.

Russo is speculating that Guerin might want to hire Doug Weight.

Guerin has been talking the talk about wanting to make the playoffs publicly, but it’s obviously just for morale at this point. He said the team’s play will dictate if he starts making changes. They’re 3 points out of a playoff spot with games in hand, and have won 7/11. What does he do? Trades Zucker for futures and fires BB. I dint disagree with his decisions whatsoever, but it’s starting to be some pretty obvious that he is taking this team through a rebuild right now while he still has the opportunity to. 3 years from now, if the team isn’t cutting it he won’t have the leverage to tear it down. If he was serious about this season, he would acquired literally any NHL caliber goalie. When the wild get above .900 goaltending they’re 24-4-4.

Seems like a dumb move, why cut the team off at the knees like this when they have been a great story the last few weeks?
Doug Weight is not even the caliber of an assistant coach, this reeks of buddies hooking each other up.

Guerin isn’t hiring weight as HC. He’ll likely come in in some other capacity on the business side
