source?
doubtful you're going to pry the Islanders and Bridgeport apart based off the lease signed in 2001, that still is in effect for 4 more years; add to that what Andrews stated if there's going to be another club, it's a midwest affiliate, not another New York entry.
Never mentioned Islanders, or their farm hands leaving Bridgeport. If an NHL club wants something Andrews wont argue.
What rink would you put them in? Aviator is too small (large rink holds maybe 2k). Barclays could be a good fit if Islanders move. Abe stark is nowhere near pro standards. Those are the only 3 rinks I know of in the Brooklyn area.
So, I love how everybody wants an AHL team. There's going to be one in Kansas City, Colorado Springs, Houston, Abbotsford, Chicago, Milwaukee, Detroit, Santa Fe, Mannheim, etc.
The way people on this board start placing AHL franchises you would think this is a 200 team league.

ppl forget what this league is based upon, there's no more independents anymore, and now its a requirement to have an NHL affiliation before taking the ice, this is not the AHL of the late 70s to 80s.
as the IHL fans were keenly made aware of in 2001, the affiliation requirement had to happen, otherwise those 6 franchises wouldn't be accepted.
2) if we what know now is true, which NHL Affiliation not already spoken FOR WOULD BE the Brooklyn affiliation;
of the New York teams themselves: it's not the Islanders, Rangers or Sabres, all 3 of them own their own affiliates, you can eliminate Binghamton now that the Devils are going there, Utica due to the agreement w/ Vancouver, and Syracuse (no chance Dolgon leaves the Crunch).
Is there any source of this?
I also heard from a guy that there's a group that wants to bring an AHL team to Hawaii next season too...
If the Isles lose money in Brooklyn (which they do - hence why the Nets want them out), an AHL team is a non-starter. There are far more lucrative uses for those arena dates that don't require the outlay of $12,000/month just to keep the ice frozen.
Could they do AHL-quality ice cheaper?
Also, is synthetic ice (plastic ice-like sheet) an option in the AHL?
