Even though this is in late for me.....maybe the worst deal I have personally ever seen, and that's saying a ton.

Yeah, you're real late. Said that before Beau's big end of season push, and while the Islanders were looking like a lock for the playoffs. That pick would have been 22+ or 50+, and Petry would have made a massive difference on the blue line.

Massive? When did Petry become a 1/2?

not for nothing isn't Chuck Fletcher advising Devils now? Wild were originally trying to make a deal for Nelson when we ended up with Nino.

I mean, he would carry your 2nd pairing and can QB a powerplay.

He was 24th amongst all D-Men in points --- 19th in goals, 30th in assists.

He was 28th in TOI --- 26th when it came to being on the PP, and 26th on ES.

Considering there are 62 guys playing on a top pair in the NHL, it's safe to say Jeff Petry would be one of the best #2 guys in the League.

He had comparable stats (both in points and advanced statistics) to players like OEL, Leddy, Muzzin, Hamilton --- despite playing on one of the worst offensive teams in the NHL. He also was playing with a mix of Benn/Mete/Alzner all year; not necessarily the greatest group of partners.

Petry is one of the most underrated players on these forums.

Some Islander fans are such drama queens.... he's nowhere near as bad as some make him out to be, he's just not being put into position to be successful here. He's not a bottom six forward, and he's not going to drive a line. What he will do is produce points for you if given a top six wing position and PP time with someone that can gain the zone and pass the puck. Look at his production in international tournaments where he is actually used in this manner and he's over .80 PPG... and it isn't exactly a small sample anymore. Watch clips of him in the past WC, they were raving over how dominant he looked.

He does not belong at center though, that much is clear at this point.
