He was a crazy combination of intensity and screaming. He looked like his head was going to explode at any given point. Overall, he wasn't a great in game coach. He did a decent job of getting them ready to play, but they crapped out hard in the playoffs under him, iicrc...

Most of todays players would be found in the fetal position covered in their own pee if they had to play for Sutter.

And I mean that as a compliment to the man.

He rode that 1992-93 team hard all regular season to the point where they had nothing left for the playoffs.
For what it's worth I thought Rick Bowness did much better than Sutter with the banged up 91-92 team that used about 55 players due to injuries.
Ultimately, Sinden let both men down. He canned Bowness after a hugely overachieving season and gutted Sutter's blueline and crease in 1994 by not replacing Wesley, Iafrate or Moog...or even Casey. The team that came back from the 1994 lockout started an era of futility that (for me) didn't end until game 6 in 2008. I blame a lot of the shortcomings of this era on Sinden who went downhill in 1992 after years of excellent moves.
