Welcome to Ottawa BIG BRIAN GIBBONS!

Acquired for Patrick Sieloff.

Who is Brian Gibbons, you may ask?

He kind of fell flat this year, but I thought he was a nice signing by Anaheim at the time: good skater, good PKer, and has some hands around the net. I like this pickup. He’ll look good on the 4th line.

I mean sieloff was still only 24.
Couldn’t get something a tad more useful than gibbons?
Not that it’s very significant. He’s got speed anyway.
It appears like PD is going for speed guys. Guess I can’t complain about that.

Wonder if they were talking about someone else, like silfverberg before they decided to rE-sign him.

Along with the other 11 4th liners!

Looking at stats you wonder what's going on with him. Two of the four years he had a 0.5ppg pace. Which isn't terrible.

But every comment from Anaheim fans make you wonder how he's playing professional hockey

I think this is a small but smart move.

Copying a text I sent to my friend:

"Will play in the NHL, allows us to keep young guys in ahl playoff run...also a ufa whereas sieloff had a year left so it's a plus in clearing sieloffs contract. Sieloff is useless.
Gibbons has produced 41-5-12-17 and 59-12-14-26 in the NHL before...so for 20 games on the bottom lines, might produce ok."

He's a body who won't look out of place on a bottom team which allows us to keep someone young down. Smart.

Wonder if he's waived in the next couple of days to get on the Belleville possible playoff roster.

Is this another player asked for by Guy Boucher? 4th liner that will suddenly become our most important player?

Ducks fan wondering how the hell Gibbons has already surpassed his awful Ducks numbers in over 30 less games with you guys
