What do you guys think of Gibbons? I'm disappointed by him.
I think we don’t need a separate thread for every player on the roster?
15 games 0 points.
Dude is a waste. He’s our new Logan’s Shaw. I guess he skates fast?
Skates pretty well and can kill penalties and offers pretty much nothing else. Honestly I'd prefer him at 1 million to Cogs at 3.25 million since both seem only capable of 4th line and PK minutes right now. Having Gibbons seems redundant with so much invested in Cogs but I guess with how the team is penalized for everything Murray felt it was important to add another PK specialist type. That's all I got, he hasn't impressed much.
I prefer Shaw to him.
don't ever say those words again
One day I expect to read, "Gibbons on waivers". If so, I expect he will clear.
Shaw at least could win puck battles, and for a guy of his size he actually had good enough wheels for the modern NHL. A year ago our bottom 4 forwards were Grant, Wagner, Shaw and Rasmussen and people hated it. Now, instead we have replaced them with small soft forwards who are just as bad (if not worse) at producing offense at the NHL level and who, on top of that, are so weak they can't win a puck battle to save their lives.
Edit: I should say those were 4 of our bottom 5 forwards because I completely forgot we had Boll...
Shaw and Rasmussen didn't belong on our 4th line or any NHL roster, but Grant and Wagner were more than capable in that role and I would love to still have both on our team today. Especially with Sherwood in the picture, that would make for a pretty decent and cheap 4th line that could give you 12 minutes and shift momentum in games from time to time with a tiny bit of offense and some physicality.
At least we agree what a 4th line should ideally look like. But imo as much **** as Shaw got here, he's still a better/more useful than several skill guys filling out teams rosters right now. But thanks to a narrative that keeps pushing "skill! skill! skill!" we see guys like Marko Dano in the NHL. And I'm saying this while being a huge supporter of slovak players.
Well, he finally got a point.
Was a nice pass, first time he did something noticeable all season.
I didn't expect too much from him when he was signed. In my opinion he has been a disappointment even for my expectations.
Reminds me of when they acquired Hagelin who could skate around fast in circles but did nothing else, at least Gibbons salary is alot less.
He's this year's Santorelli.
