Dumo has arguably been our best and most consistent dman this year so far, so how much value does he have? I'd say he's 1st round value but I wouldn't think about trading him right now.

Yes, we should even remotely consider trading Dumoulin, our only D that is worth a damn right now and is playing anywhere even remotely close to their best. Yikes.

He's not worth a first, but even if he was, we shouldn't trade him barring a top-10 pick coming back.

With how he's been playing, we'd be stupid to move him now.

We haven't developed any prospect since the mid-2000's, one finally looks to pan out after spending time in the minors, and we're going to ship him away?

So much value to this particular team, that anyone who might consider "selling high" when he has a run of bad games, needs to stop watching hockey and stop posting on HFB. Jeezus. We've been waiting for this kid to develop in the minors for a few years now, he's done it, he's up, he's playing good and now we're talking about "value". Unreal. How often do we bemoan our inability to develop talent. And now that we've done it... naturally the thing to do is think about trade value. Because HFB.

He's big, can skate, and a great passer.

We just traded a guy like that in Despres. God help us if we do it again. Dumo should be a core piece for years to come. You don't trade big skating defensemen. They're so rare and valuable.

Even if we traded him for a first (which we won't get for a guy with 20 games or whatever), what good does that do us? In six years, maybe we'll have another top 4 D on a cheap contract.

People on the internet are dumb, by and large. The HF echo chamber just makes it worse.

But to answer OP's excellent question, maybe Ben Lovejoy. :naughty::sarcasm:

So Scuds is still on the team as the shut-down D, maybe this brain trust would trade Dumo for another more experienced older shut down D like scuds. Then no one would score on the pens with two scud-like Ds.
