Heard Burke on the radio today saying he would bet on there being no hockey until 2021 at the earliest with the pandemic.

Most people I talk to are fearing the same thing. I think we could miss the entire season next year as well.

Is 2020 the worst year ever? And does anyone realistically see another hockey game being played this year?

Yes, from a logistics perspective spectator sports should be amongst the last businesses to reopen; unless they plan to hold games with no fans. I'm unsure how feasible that would be economically. Fans are integral to the ambiance of a game. Can you imagine game 7 of the Stanley Cup in an empty arena?

That’s precisely what the 10-11 final game 7 felt like

If businesses shut down until 2021, not one person on this forum is going to care about about hockey in 8 months.

Businesses will likely open sooner but any sporting events... Depends really where each country is on that. Some may have adapted sooner than others. On the other hand there is the second wave...

Pandemic is out of control. I too don’t see any hockey in 2020 especially the states is out of the control. The best big hockey event will be the draft which will nhl style, via video conference etc etc.

Why would anyone in their right mind think we would miss any games next year. Delusional.
cuz there is this really bad pandemic and it seems the mentality now is try and slow it as much as possible to not overwhelm the hospitals and they say a vaccine will not happen for at least 12 months so yea this pandemic is not going anywhere, so they are not going to announce in October "ok everyone out of your house", and I can not imagine they will allow these sport teams to play because it is inevitable some will eventually catch it and it will spread to many players on that team

as said my only guess for a NHL season in 2020-21 will be if they try to play some 40 game schedule and maybe have like 1 or 2 games a week and maybe 1 or 2 practices a week to try and limit exposure among the players and lessen the damage in case a team does get sick, also I am guessing they will only allow teams to sell like 5,000 tickets per game

I don't think anyone knows where this is headed. I don't know that he's right, but I can't say he's wrong either.

God Bless America, especially NYC and area.
