Canes are in habit of assigning a value to any given pending UFA and if he insists on getting more then it's pretty much bye Felicia. I would guess the numbers each are thinking are not close.

In the end, I believe the key sticking point will be term.

Supposedly, he has a broken foot. There are a lot of bones in the foot, so that isn't really that specific. He may be back. Don't know when. As far as the contract goes, he expects that Florida and the Islanders will be bidding for him. He grew up in the NY area, so that's how I know. I can't tell you how. A Ranger fan saying "hi".
