Menell made the right decision. BG probably wanted him to stay so they'd have him if/when Dumba is traded, but that's not a certainty to happen. With an unknown timeline in the NHL, take the ice time + money in the KHL, improve your game and then come back next season. It honestly seems like the best situation for both parties, so I hope BG doesn't hold that against him much. I think Mennell has potential to be a 2nd pair RD and PP specialist in the future.

Second among KHL Dmen in total points, leading in PPG, and looks to be leading in TOI(hard to tell) with over 25 Minutes per game. WTG, Brennan!

The thing I keep telling myself is it might be a good thing if he blows up in the KHL vs the NHL. This way him might be overlooked by Seattle come expansion draft.

Or it might get him picked, which wouldn't be that bad either.

Maybe, I think Soucy is pretty much gone though. Especially if he has a similar season to this previous one.

Possible. I wouldn't place any bets one way or the other. Soucy had a solid year in the NHL, but Menell is a 23 year old RHD and if he continues to put up PPG in the KHL he's going to be very good bait either at the ED or in a trade.

And if we don't trade Dumba and go 4+4, I still think Greenway or Kunin would be at least as enticing as Soucy.

Yeah i agree with this. I'm under the impression that the wild trade Dumba over the offseason or TDL.

I think he carries more value post expansion, since protection is no longer a concern for whomever acquires him
I can see that and I don't have an argument against it. I just have a hunch that the Wild want to protect 7-3-1 since I think they want to protect greenway and Kunin etc.

You just have to know the value of Greenway, Kunin, Menell, Soucy vs the difference in return before or after the expansion.

I don't get the impression that GMBG places a ton of value on Greenway. Maybe I'm off base on that though, just my impression.

This is not true totally about protection after ED.
I'm not sure about being waivers exempt but I am sure about becoming a G6 UFA like Soucy was this year. I know that it was 3 years of service, which Mennel has already, 25 yrs old which he will be after 21/22 season and games played, dressed in, was 80 but was adjusted down 3-6 games to 74-77 , I'm not sure of the exact number and can't find it anywhere.

Dumba will have greater value if he starts off the year with 20 points in 30 games. There are always teams that are desperate for good D like NJ and FLA, especially RD. The trouble with him now is that teams don't know who he is, a 50+ pt. Dman, or a 30 pt. offensive Dman.6M is a lot to pay for the latter.
The good news is that his pec has nothing to do with his legs, spine, or groin. He should be good as new after a long layoff.

As I've said before though, if Dumba returns to his pre pec form, will anyone on here want to trade him, or do you still go 4+4? A 50+ pt. Dman is worth a hell of a lot more than what Greenway and Kunin have shown us so far. Better to lose one of them than Dumba, no?

Depends what Greenway and Kunin do this year.

Menell hasn't played since September, when he did really well. Got injured somehow. Anyone have an idea what happened?

Team has been playing recently. Lodnia had a couple of assists in the last game.

the team has still been playing, but a ton of players are out with Covid. Look at their roster currently, they have 22 forwards and 12 defenseman on the roster. A ton of their VHL and MHL players have been getting games. Same think happened with SKA that’s why Marat got a few games.

Yeah, KHL teams don't really want to cancel games due to COVID. If players are out due to COVID, their reserve team plays in their place. For example, Jokerit cancelled their match due to COVID and KHL didn't like it at all.

Jokerit doesn’t have a reserve team — that regulation only applies to Russian teams in the KHL — and as a result it doesn’t have extra players to bring into the team. Barys faced a particularly complicated situation where all the teams within the club were affected by illness, not just the first team.

At the same time, both clubs were warned that in future it will be difficult to find space in the schedule to rearrange games and they are expected to take part. If not, they will have to forfeit future games. There is no more space on the timetable to rearrange such a large number of games.

Morozov – More and more players are recovering, things are getting better

Seems crazy to me considering the current situation.

Menell second in scoring for Dmen, and leads in PPG. Still playing 25 minutes per night, and is a fixture on the PP, where he gets a lot of his points.
