Dane Fox, Mike Santorelli, Frank Corrado, Hunter Shinkaruk, Jordan Subban, Ryan Stanton, Eddie Lack, Zack Kassian, etc.

Brendan Gaunce is just part of the tradition. Player might have had a career in the dead puck era, but just can’t move or process the game at NHL pace unfortunately.

His first 96 games in the NHL at a scoring pace of less than 0.1 ppg did some serious damage to his position in the organization. It's too bad because he has shown he can score at the AHL level and has increased his production in his most recent 25 games or so at the NHL level. He can contribute on the PK and play well in a shut down role.
He is better than Granlund and Schaller without question.
Trade Sutter at the deadline for picks and send Schaller to the AHL. Bring up Gaudette and Gaunce. The team will be instantly better and have draft picks to boot.

Oh cmon the idea of Brendan Gaunce playing in Travis Green’s system is a complete fantasy. He’ll have to find another minor league team to play on next season, and will pray he can get a cushy gig with Marlies or have a career the likes of Adam Cracknell.

Ah that's weird how you're describing 95% of Benning's pro scouting acquisitions.

Come on. Gudbranson can make 10 mil in this era. You obviously dont even know what Gaunce is as a hockey player... "cant process the game." :D

Dane Fox was an undrafted UFA.

Frank Corrado was a 5th round pick that turned into a NHL player, good draft pick.

Mike Santorelli was a dirt cheap UFA signing that was an excellent pro scouting coup by the previous regime. He was then traded at the deadline the next season by the next team who took a chance on him for futures.

Ryan Stanton was a waiver pickup that turned into a quality bottom pairing defender for the team in 2013/2014.

Eddie Lack was an undrafted UFA goalie that outplayed a guy your uncle signed to a 3 year 18 million dollar contract on the same team.

The Canucks didn’t give up a single asset for any of these players these are all wins for the organization.

Gaunce "processes the game" just fine. He is actually pretty good defensively. His foot speed is an issue as is his lack of intensity at times. If he could find a half a step and add a little bit of spit and vinegar, he would have a long NHL career. As it is he is a player that is better than at least two and arguably four of the forwards on the current NHL roster.

Canucks claim Dale Weise off of waivers (so for free)....then later traded him Raphel Diaz. Diaz was also later dealt for a 5th round pick. With that 5th round pick, Benning chose Gaudette (it was a lower pick than their own default 5th round pick & hence not valued by Benning & Co as much at the time). But Gillis left Benning nothing.

    Markstrom cleared waivers as well

This is a good point. Gaunce's 16 point pace last year just doesn't hold up to Beagle's 20, if only Gaunce could process the game at the same level as Beagle...

Or Shallers 10 pace, not to mention the great pace of Granlund who might reach 25 its with PP-time.

Why is it that gaunce is deemed as an non nhl player when he hasn’t hit the 300 games played mark?

Wasn’t there a huge defense of other players as “we don’t know what they are until we hit 300 games”

No chance he returns next seasons, he’s getting traded.
And I think he’ll be viewed as a career AHLer soon

I’ve grown attached to Gaunce but let’s be honest he’s a dime a dozen player and it wouldn’t surprise me if he doesn’t find a spot somewhere else. Cheap, effective fourth liners are the easiest players to find. The main issue is having 1 in house and going out and spending a premium on them. For his sake I hope he finds an opportunity somewhere cause he’s been screwed over here. He’s earned a spot based on merit.

He deserves one more chance with the team. I’d put him on in place of granlund. Mottes earned a permanent spot based on his play this year imo.

    Trade Sutter, promote Gaunce.

It’s the right thing to do.

If anyone takes sutters spot it will be Gaudette, I think Gaunce will be a winger in the nhl.

There isn't a spot for him anywhere else, because nobody needs a player like Brendan Gaunce...He was available for free, why did every other GM pass on him?...He hasn't been screwed over here, the team (and the league) has just moved on.

It’s cute that you think there’s this big difference between bottom of the lineup NHLers and players in the AHL.

Apparently..its pretty cute that 31 NHL GM"s think there's a difference as well..Adapt or die.
