Indeed, Shalunov has well documented track of failures behind him fut he looks really good so far for Sibir who need to have some of the players step up offensively. He probably can't keep this pace for very long but it looks like he will prove himself as a legit KHL player rather than a borderline one he has been so far.

Also Alex Pankov is getting well deserved minutes with Avto, if he can stay healthy he will probably break 25 points. It's pretty crazy his career-best is 13 points, seems like he has been on the radar forever.

Zhafyarov scored 1+1 too and has 5 points in 5 games now which is great for him, hopefully his role grows too as he can't probably keep this up much longer playing 10 minutes per game.

I thought about Zhafyarov, but wasn't sure what his role would be at Sibir. You're right, he's still not getting tons of minutes, but he's producing really well.

I think some guys in MNK are going to break out this year. Kazakov and Plotnikov when he returns to health. Kazakov has looked much better than I remember seeing him in Omsk. Tonnes of speed and talent, getting the ice time too.

Yarullin is actually getting PP time even on Ak Bars, 2 apples today , 4 points in 6 games. Nice to see.

1997-born Novokuznetsk forward Kirill Kaprizov 1+1 against SKA today. What is his potential?

Depth complementary winger on a good team with an outside shot at the national team or NHL, if he ever wants to try it. Really smart, but all of his height, stickhandling, skating and especially shot could use some work.

Another Kuznya prospect, Maxim Kazakov (1993), should get more attention. Best player last night, 4+2 in 5 games this year, decent skating and stickhandling, like Kaprizov, and can actually shoot.

Yeah, Kazakov is really looking quite impressive, Kuznya is a great fit for him too. Can't really imagine him as a depth player for Avangard as he is obviously so gifted offensively (legit Russian winger, pardon the stereotype) and Kuznya needs such players as ones like Stoa can only get you so far.

It's kinda similar to Grigorenko, crazy to think Magnitka scraped player who's leading the league in goals now.

Big teams are struggling to bring talant through within their own first team. Plenty decent players have broken through while being loaned to Yugras and Sibirs of this world. No doubt he will be picked up, if not by MMg itself, then some larger fish soon for sure.

How has Dergachyov played in the 5 games ? What are his minutes ? Can he hang with the big boys

Got a lucky goal today but will not see more than 7 minutes of ice time a game. He would be better off in the VHL or playing on a lesser KHL team, same with Kadeykin, another nice talent who is just being wasted.

Maxim Ovechkin Kazakov with yet another goal, 6+2 already, such a beast.

Another skillful goal at that. He has such quick feet and hands. Along side Stoa and Kaprizov, they have certainly been one of the more fun lines to watch thus far. Interesting to note another young MNK player - Yazkov getting significant ice time and time on the PP. He has also been creating many opportunities, although not many points yet. Certainly another young gem to watch out for.

Let's wait and see, he was pretty bad in NA, however he was pretty exceptional for the U20 NT

Bobkov sitting on .891 Sv% and 4.41 GAA. Needless to say, no matter how good he was for U20 teams, he stinks just as bad in the K as he did in NA at men's level.

What about Grigorenko from Neftekhimik? He's almost PPG on an average team, which mostly thanks to him doesn't look that average right now.

And he's the 3rd Grigorenko in Russian hockey. And they all aren't relatives.

Arzamastsev looked good for Ufa. By far their most reliable dman (away ahead of Lepistö, Koltsov and Goncharov).

Krikunov always finds a player like Grigorenkio whom he can motivate in the reight way. My money is on it's 80% Krikunov and 20% Grigorenko. Neftekhimik finally looks stable and competitive. With no experimenting ang giving Krikunov time and space to do his thing.

It appears that Andrei Kareyev has won the starting job in Kuznya. Coach Nikolay Solovyov said that he wasn't happy with Novotny's performance against Magnitka and looks to play Kareyev until he's tired.

He right now has .927 sv%, 2.62 GAA and all 3 team's wins. I think these stats are very good for a below awesome team like Metallurg.

Maxim Kazakov cooled off a bit after a great start, only scoring 1 assist the last 4 games, but is still leading MNk in goals, points and +/- (11 games, 6+3, +4).

Kirill Kaprizov has been gaining points quietly, with 1+1 over the last week, he's 3rd in team scoring (12 games, 2+4, -1). Both Kazakov and Kaprizov were deservedly praised by Solovyov as the players who step up to a challenge most and try to lead the team.
