Good for Tampa but Point is kind of dumb if he takes a bridge. Doubt he repeats last season where he was a product of Kucherov for a lot of it. Not to say he is a scrub, but he isn't some 90 point 40 goal guy on his own line. He'd be better off to hold firm and get locked in for as much as he can.
Point was the best player for the Bolts last season before he and Kuch got put together. Even if he carries his own line he should be around ppg and with elite defense, he'll get his payday.

Any Cap issues next year or 2 by adding another $7M for a forward? They have a fair amount of RFA/UFA coming up in the next couple years.

Major cap issues. Even if we can trade Killorn without taking anything back we’re almost certainly looking at losing at least one of Cernak, Cirelli, or Sergachev. That’s why it’s so important to keep Point’s contract as low as possible, both to save as much space as we can for those guys and to continue to set an example that they hopefully will follow.

He’s a great player apart from Kuch (and on the power play, Stamkos) but I’m not so sure he’s a 40-goal, 90-point player apart from them, or even necessarily a PPG player. He could well be more of a Bergeron type: 60-70 points and great defense. Which is certainly nothing to sneeze at but is a different ballgame entirely from a PPG+ player with the same defensive ability.
