He always gets credit for the drafting but don't we have some long term scouts prior GMs have credited with their scouting? If you get behind the microphone and read some names, does it mean more than traveling the world and watching players play, doing stats, etc?

The irony of that is that Hextall actually got pretty good value in most of his trades. Hextall really went downhill in the last year, like Hak was poisoning his mind or something.

I get the feeling Hextall had massive input on his draft picks. He’s too much of a control freak not to. And, if I’m right, this was mostly a benefit of his ways. But there was a disconnect in his amateur vs. pro scouting.
