We will have a Game #7 on Tuesday, April 4 in Lethbridge - 7:00 pm MT/9:00 pm ET.
The Game #7 winner will face the Medicine Hat Tigers in the next round of the playoffs.

The Rebels could be without one of their star players Evan Polei who may be suspended one game due to a game misconduct - check to the head - he received in the third period.
Brandon Hagel had an assist on the lone Rebels goal which was scored by Michael Spacek in the final minute of the first period. Hagel also was a -1 +/- on the evening.
Fellow Sabres prospect Giorgio Estephan had 2 assists and a +3 +/- for the Hurricanes.

Red Deer Rebels winger Brandon Hagel (2016, sixth round) had a breakout campaign during the 2016-2017 regular season with 31 goals and 71 points in 65 games, including an impressive finishing kick with 9 goals and 15 points in his final six games. It's safe to say Hagel's highly-productive ways have continued into the Western Hockey League postseason.

After the Rebels earned the road split in Lethbridge to open their first-round Eastern Conference with the Hurricanes, Brandon Hagel scored a third-period goal on the power play Wednesday as Red Deer came back to earn a 4-3 victory in double overtime to take Game #3.

Hagel kept it going the next night, scoring two more goals including a late empty-netter to ice a 5-3 win in Game #4 to out the Rebels ahead 3-1 in the best-of-seven series. It was more of the same for Hagel on Saturday, as the sparkplug added two more goals to his stack in a 5-3 loss at Lethbridge.

Brandon Hagel extended his point streak to four games Sunday, picking up an assist in the final minute of the opening period but it was all the Rebels could muster in a 4-1 loss to the Hurricanes in Game #6. Through the first six games of the opening round, Hagel leads all WHL skaters with six goals, including a shorthanded marker, which is tied for the league lead.

The Rebels and Hurricanes will play their deciding Game #7 Tuesday evening in Lethbridge.

@SabresProspects - Giorgio Estephan 1+2 last night as Lethbridge finished off Red Deer 6-2 in Game 7. Brandon Hagel - season over - scored 7 goals in the 7 games.

@TomTelfer - ATO for Hagel to Rochester?
@SabresProspects - I would. Get him around the big boys. Get some cash in his pocket. If he gets into lineup, great. If not, no worries. Helps in long run.

No word on Hagel going to Rochester? Come on Tim, Estephan went last season, Hagel had a terrific draft +1 season and deserves the opportunity to play against AHL competition.

Kris Baker‏ @SabresProspects -
Brandon Hagel snaps his nine-game goal funk with his fourth of the year.
Red Deer leads Medicine Hat 1-0 - End 1st.

Red Deer Rebels‏ @Rebelshockey -
Goal!! Rebels pot one on the power play! @bhags gets the goal! #MHvsRD
That goal pushes @Bhags9 point streak to 5 games! (1-6-7).

Red Deer Rebels drop a 5-2 decision to Medicine Hat Tigers. #RDR

The Tigers carried the play through the first half of the opening period before the Rebels found their stride and took a 1-0 lead 13:33 into the contest on a man-advantage marker from Brandon Hagel. Hagel positioned at the side of the net, cashed a rebound after Tiger goaltender Michael Bullion denied Kristian Reichel from close range.

Red Deer Rebels‏ @Rebelshockey -

On the #RDR second goal @Bhags9 picks up an assist and extends his point streak to 6 games. #GoinStreakin #SPOvsRD

The Rebels never led in the contest, trailing 2-0 at one point in the opening period and 3-2 late in the game before Brandon Hagel connected with 39 seconds remaining with goalie Ethan Anders on the bench in favour of an extra attacker. Hagel potted his fourth of the season on a redirect of a point shot by Dawson Barteaux.

Reese Johnson bolted down the right side and threw a pass in front that Jared Dmytriw tipped past Dawson Weatherill at 3:39 while going hard to the net. “Reese got the puck and he flew down the wing. I didn’t have to do much, just keep my stick on the ice,” said Dmytriw. “He made that whole play.”

Brandon Hagel potted a go-ahead goal — his sixth of the season and team-leading 20th point — at 14:30 of the second period on a deflection of a point shot by Jacob Herauf.

Red Deer Rebels GM/bench boss Brent Sutter didn’t hesitate when breaking down the difference between winning and losing Wednesday. “Bad coaching,” said Sutter, following a 4-2 WHL loss to the Seattle Thunderbirds before an audience of 3,577 at the Centrium. “Playing those guys in the third period, our so-called best players.

“They were terrible tonight and I shouldn’t have had them on the ice in the third period. I shouldn’t have had them on the power play in the last four minutes. That’s my fault.” Sutter was referring to his older, veteran skaters who for the most part fell well short of expectations in terms of overall performance.

“It’s unacceptable,” the head coach continued. “(Brandon) Hagel was terrible tonight, (Lane) Zablocki was awful. “Our older players didn’t play like they need to play and when you have that, when your best players aren’t your best players and they’re your worst players, you struggle. And you put other players in situations that they probably struggle in too.”

Kris Baker‏ @SabresProspects -
Brandon Hagel just picked up his fourth assist of the game as Red Deer has taken a 4-0 lead at Prince George in the 3rd.
That's the second-ever four-assist game of Hagel's WHL career (he had four helpers as part of a 2+4 effort last January).

Red Deer Rebels‏ @Rebelshockey -
Rebels win 4-0 in Prince George. Riley Lamb with 25 saves for the shutout. Brandon Hagel with 4 assists.
Mason McCarty and Kristian Reichel with 3rd period goals. Final shots 31-25 RD.
The Rebels 4-0 WIN moves them just 2 points out of a playoff spot!

Game Recap - Alexeyev, Hagel stand out in Rebels’ victory - Lamb makes 25 saves in shutout of Cougars -
February 12 - Red Deer Rebels Website.

Brandon Hagel - the third-year winger made amends for a sub-par outing in Saturday’s 4-3 loss to the Edmonton Oil Kings, a game he spent 12 minutes watching from the penalty box after being assessed a misconduct.

Brent Sutter GM/Head Coach - Red Deer Rebels - “He responded after sitting in the box 12 minutes the other day.
It was a tight game and we had one of our best forwards sitting in the box with a 10-minute misconduct.
He responded the right way today.”
