on my first listen
Figures. Tease you for 7 years and then release it without much of a hint. It's good. Going to see them in Brooklyn.
Going to the Philly and Brooklyn shows.
Should be good. Wonder if these are going to be their last shows.
Haha, yeah you're not wrong. Its really, really good.
This might be their best work. Good Lord it's incredible.
FYI, it's on Spotify now. Listen for days!
It's good. Like Deja Entendu it's not something I'll return to often but I enjoyed it.
Huh? Haven't listened to the album yet but if it's anything close to Deja Entendu, I'll be very pleased. Almost 15 years later and I still throw that album on quite regularly.
What a pleasant surprise. Probably the best album of the year so far.
Instantly iconic cover art too.
It's more like Devil than Deja. Not much pop appeal but it's strong from start to finish. Always thought Deja was their Sgt. Peppers. Not saying they're the Beatles.
I've always been a passive fan of this band. never really seeked them out, but have enjoyed what I've heard.
Well, with everyone creaming themselves in this thread, had to check it out. And let me tell ya...from what I've heard, it's excellent. Can't Get It Out, Waste, and 451 are AMAZING songs.
In terms of how much I liked it they're close. Sonically is another story though. If I was more into this kind of music I would probably appreciate it more than I do.
I havent listened to their discography beyond these 2 albums though so I might give that a shot later.
My only real criticism is that there isn't that kick-ass anthem type song, its a really pretty low-key throughout the entire album. Could've used something in the vein of Degausser or Not the Sun. But that's more of a nitpick than an actual criticism.
I became a fan during the Deja leak and even more so after Devil and God. Their first album was garbage so it took me a while to draw me in.
I grabbed it this weekend and I'm sure it's good. Daisy is a solid album as well.
As for the creaming effect, it's expected when it comes to Brand New. While good, they are overrated immensely.
You guys, I just listened to this album while staring at the eclipse. It was so awesome.
Brand New ages like Scotch and wine for me, getting better with each listen. Science Fiction is already good on its first listen-through so I can't wait until it really sinks in!
What a great job by Jesse and Co.
My sentiments exactly.
I liked it a lot, but I think I over hyped myself just a tad. Maybe I just need more listens (have only listened once), but right now I'd place it behind The Devil and God and maybe even Deja
I listened to it a bunch this weekend, and it's good, but I still prefer Deja. It doesn't have a song that instantly hooks you like Sic Transit Gloria or Okay I believe you.
Maybe I'm still trapped in 2004.
Their 1st album is amazing...
I grew up on these guys in college
Brand new, Taking Back Sunday, Northstar...
haven't listened to them in like 10 years, may give this a listen
its a good record
not their best though
137 sucks as a song, honestly, and 451 isn't all that better. I also really dislike the recorded talking parts of the album like the very beginning. Unnecessary and would like a version with all that crap edited out.
But the rest of the album is pretty ****ing killer. Awesome riffs and an STP vibe in some songs. But this is FAAAARRRRR from the best Brand New album. Probably the worst, really. After a couple listens I'd rather listen to every other album before this one. Daisy is my fave.
Don't drink the Kool Aid, kids.
Nah, you're right. Nothing that really hooks you or that you can sing along with. People will say that's because they matured but there are songs in every album besides this that hook me and that I can sing along to. Riffs aside, what does this album have?
10,000% disagree with this.
I also keep seeing people list Deja as a favorite album of all time. I just don't get it. To me it sounds like a fun pop-punk band trying to find their footing in doing something more, but it's clear they are still finding they're footing. It's ok, but far from special in my mind
Deja is my favorite Brand New album because of how old I was when I first listened to it, but Devil and God is their best.
All of Brand New's style transitions have led to Science Fiction and I think they did a great job
Deja Entendu is by far their best album
Your Favorite Weapon
Devil God Raging
Havent listened to the new one
