To explain better, in order of importace it's:
  1. Shot Distance From Net
  2. Time Since Last Game Event
  3. Shot Type (Slap, Wrist, Backhand, etc)
  4. Speed From Previous Event
  5. Shot Angle
  6. East-West Location on Ice of Last Event Before the Shot
  7. If Rebound, difference in shot angle divided by time since last shot
  8. Last Event That Happened Before the Shot (Faceoff, Hit, etc)
  9. Other team’s # of skaters on ice
  10. East-West Location on Ice of Shot
  11. Man Advantage Situation
  12. Time since current Powerplay started
  13. Distance From Previous Event
  14. North-South Location on Ice of Shot
  15. Shooting on Empty Net
You forgot about the current phase of the Moon.

The guy is averaging 1.84 xGoals/60... that's insane, no one this season is even close. Matthews is a distant 2nd at 1.37/60. Tkachuk is on pace to break Ovechkin's record of the best stats in this metric at 1.81 in the 08-09 season.

Esp impressive that he's doing it on such a bad team where just getting the puck to the areas that give you good expected goals is a herculean task in itself, let alone getting those shots off.
Analytics history, who cares, real stats are what's important.

Thats pretty impressive. The nly thing I'll note is somone was explaining this weekend that xGoals/60 dos not take into account schooter skill. So it counts a Jimmy Vesey (lol) shot the same as an Auston Matthews shot.

Expected Goals (xG) Models Explained

As you can see, none of the factors include the player. That said it's the best we have for now, but I do look forward to the day the player quality is added to this list.

Which is exactly the issue with the often used stats. Assuming every shot is taken by the "average" player doesn't result in an accurate measurement because shooter skill *does* have a massive, massive impact on whether a shot should be "expected" to go in or not.

Until that is actually accounted for in a much more clear way than currently, it's hard to look at these stats as more than just secondary or tertiary data instead of any sort of primary data when evaluating players/teams.

Sens fan here, just shows how meaningless some of these advanced stats are. Solid player but he isn't dominating games by any stretch of the imagination.

This can be boiled down to him shooting the puck a lot. Good player no doubt though.

They are all just another tool in the box. None of them should be used on their own.

Analytics, aside, Brady leads the league in Shots on Goal, Hits and Penalties Drawn. What a legend.
