Honestly signing Tkachuk is the least of my concerns. As cheap as melnyk is, he knows that losing him would be an absolute catastrophe and would kill any credibility for the rebuild.

Depends on Tkachuk wants. The cap is going to be relatively stagnant for the next couple of seasons. He may be better off signing a 2-3 year bridge deal before getting a longterm deal when the cap rises.
