COVID-19 and the salary cap might prevent that, unless we're willing to say screw it and go 8 x 8. He'll probably want to sign a 3 year bridge with a high QO, and hope for things to be closer to their previous normal 4 years from now.

Funny enough, our habit of back loading contracts might be appreciated by a player right now. With the possibility of a fake 81.5M cap (when it should be much lower) and high escrow, it would be better to have the money at the back end of the contract when escrow might be more likely to return to the previous normal.

He's probably the most popular, marketable player on the team right now, and obviously that will be a factor. But it's not like he won't get a massive contract in 5 seasons if he becomes a UFA. The league puts a premium relative to production on players who play like Brady does. Power forwards get paid.

Look at the Kreider contract. He's a 20/50 producing type forward, and at 29 years old he signed for 6.5 million for 7 years, with a NMC for most of the contract, front loaded money, and huge buyout proof bonuses.
