Any idea of why Brad Park after a very solid (and sometimes great) performance in the 1972 Summit wasn't picked for Team Canada in the 1976 or 1981 Canada Cups, the 1979 Challenge Cup or the 1981 World Championships? Was it an injury issue?

In 1976 I think it was an injury issue. He was 2nd in Norris trophy voting in '76 so there was no way he wouldn't make that team. 1979 I have no idea but as for 1981 he was 33 by then, still wouldn't have been a bad choice however the team picked that year was very young and there were several stars from the 1970s who got shafted that could have made it.

Barber, Clarke, Shutt, Sittler, McDonald, etc are examples of players who could have helped that team but were shafted for younger talent.

It was indeed another knee injury that cost him the 1976 Canada Cup.

He missed the last 20 or so regular season games in 75-76 and then came back for the playoffs before having another procedure done during the summer.

The other instances were knee injuries as well. For 1979, Canada had bad injury problems on the blueline with both Park and Guy LaPointe out. Denis Potvin also had a bad shoulder and missed the first game; Bowman was forced to dress only four defencemen for that game (Robinson, Savard, Salming and Beck).

In 1981 he had surgery on his knees after the playoffs which would have eliminated him from playing in the WCs.

    1979 Challenge Cup:
Another knee injury. Park missed 37 of 80 games that season and was sidelined consistently from December 78 to Februay 79. His comeback was on February 14th, three days after the Soviets won the Challenge Cup.
