It's his change of pace skating and puck control that makes him special, it's pretty obvious when you watch him. It's exactly what everyone always glorifies Crosby for.

Brad Marchand (0-1—1) extended his home point streak to 10 games and became the fourth player this season to reach the 30-point mark (11-19—30).

* Marchand became the seventh different player in Bruins history to record a home point streak of 10 games to start the season and first since Bobby Orr in 1974-75 – which also stands as the longest such run in franchise history.

* This marks the sixth straight season with at least one player posting a season-opening home point streak of at least 10 games. In 2018-19, both Nicklas Backstrom (16 GP from Oct. 3 – Dec. 15, 2018 w/ WSH) and Sebastian Aho (10 GP from Oct. 4 – Nov. 17, 2018 w/ CAR) achieved the feat.

If McDavid, Marchand and Kucherov retain this year's pace til the end of December, this would be the points for the last 3 calendar years:

1. McDavid (projected 33 points in last 18 games): 358 points in 246 games, 1.46 points per game
2. Kucherov (projected 19 points in last 19 games): 315 points in 242 games, 1.30 points per game
3. Marchand (projected 32 points in last 19 games): 308 points in 229 games, 1.34 points per game

The next group of players are all mixed in between 1.17 to 1.13 points per game over the last 3 years, guys like Malkin, Kane, Draisaitl, Crosby, MacKinnon, Stamkos and Pastrnak.

How many people consider Marchand on Kucherov's level offensively, let alone better? How many consider him better offensively than a lot of the players listed in that next group?

@Alberta_OReilly_Fan You'll love this.

Agree or Disagree - Marchand Has Been A Top 3 Offensive Player The Last 3 Calendar Years

I have a poll where I'm laying out the last 3 years with this info (along with Marchand being top 3 for total points):

McDavid - 1.43 points per game
Kucherov - 1.33
Marchand - 1.31
Malkin - 1.17
Kane - 1.17
Draisaitl - 1.15
Crosby, MacKinnon, Stamkos - 1.14
Pastrnak - 1.13

And I'm kindly asking people who think that Marchand isn't top 3 for offense over this span to explain their reasoning.

the Edmonton fans and media keep chuckling how draisaitl has a 10 point lead in the scoring race over his closest competitor outside of mcdavid

hashtag played 3 extra games
hashtag only 2 point lead on marchand after 24 games
hashtag playing 23 mins a night... 4 mins of a 3 on 3 ot

marchand is a 3zone player who looks a pretty good bet to win a scoring title

hashtag marchand and pastrnak best duo in nhl

I find it funny that in the all the Hart talk threads its like: McDavid/Drai.... skips marchand/pasta then straight to MacKinnon.

Makes no sense to me, Marchand is putting up these points while being arguably the best defensive winger / penalty killer in the NHL.
He is the best all-around (all three zones and all strengths) winger in the NHL at the moment. I don't know how anyone can even dispute that and keep a straight face.

It's him or Draisaitl, who is a terrific all-around 200 foot player. Without the puck he reminds me of a bigger, stronger Datsyuk, has a great stick and uses that huge paddle of a blade he has to maximum advantage.

Of the 5 (Draisaitl, McDavid, Marchand, MacKinnon, Pasta) only Marchand and Draisaitl play PP and PK. The other 3 don't kill penalties.

going back for each players last 164 regular season games played to put everyone on equal footing

connor McDavid 90-154-244
brad marchand 81-145-226

nikita kucherov 71-147-218
nathin McKinnon 89-125-214

leon drasitl 84-120-204
david pastrnak 90-102-191

Alex Ovechkin 100-89-189
Austin Matthews 94-81-175

anyone shocked to see brad marchand has actually been the second best scorer in the nhl over the last 2 full years now?

people who wonder if pastrnak will break the 40 goal barrier... hes averaged 45 goals a season for 2 full years now. the ONLY THING that kept him from challanging the 50 goal mark was injuries.

our boys fit very comfortably into the hiarchy of nhl scorers... I hope to see this reflected in more national discussions of mvp candidates and questions over the list of top superstars in the nhl

even though our guys are getting some increased much deserved credit... they are still 2 of the most underrated guys whenever you see people trying to list their top 5 players or top 10 players whatever
