Let's look at the possbility of Marchand in the HHOF

Keep in mind, Kariya, Hossa, Iginla, St Louis, Recchi and Shanahan are HHOF, while Heatley, Tkachuk, Fleury, and Alfredsson are not currently HHOFers.

If you compare how Marchand has done in Hart voting, he has done better than the non-HHOF guys and behind only Kariya, Iginla, and St. Louis. Who knows what the end of the season will bring.

Marchand has been a first and second-team all-star three times. That is also better than the non-HHOF players and better than Recchi (1), Hossa (1), tied with Shanahan (3), but Kariya (4), Iginla (4), St. Louis (5). Aside from Hossa, the other HHOFers have him on longevity. How this year finishes can have an impact.

Marchand is 3rd best in Selke voting, behind Alfredsson and Hossa, but I think he will get in the top-10 again this year.

Offensively, Marchand is probably the weakest, but he is having a great year this year and will make a big difference.

If Marchand had to retire tomorrow, he isn’t in the HHOF IMO. If Marchand was liked like Hossa was, he most likely gets in. However, since he is hated, it would be easy to put him in with Heatley, Tkachuk, Alfredsson, and Fleury. His peak is better than these players, but behind in longevity to Tkachuk, Alfredsson, and Fleury IMO.

Nevertheless, a strong finish this season gets him in the HHOF conversation. Another elite season would seal it IMO reputation be damned!
Would be interesting to compare their playoffs careers too. Marchand certainly has
a more substantial playoff resume than the non-HoF players (maybe Alfredsson is comparable, but without a cup and I think Alfredsson will make the Hall eventually). Of the HoF guys, only Recchi, Hossa and Shanahan have a playoff advantage over Marchand.

Another elite year for one of the league's best players. I think he deserves some Hart consideration too, for being constantly elite all year long and being the driving force on the ice that helped push this team thru some tough times.
Came here to post the same.

He’s top 5 in the league in goals and pts and the only one in that crew who takes a regular shift on the PK (where he leads the league in points). What a player, so glad he’s ours.

McDavid will likely get it and deserves it, but Marchand has been nothing short of elite for a good while now

This stat is a bit misleading as the NHL regular season typically ends mid-April... but still impressive:

Oh, and Ovechkin's 14 goals in April 2012/13 also came in a year that saw regular season games throughout the entire month.

He will be top 5 in Hart voting, he will finish 3-5 place. Top two is McDavid and Mathews.

He's not the best hockey player in the world, right now that's Connor McDavid. And it's not even close.

But who is No.2?

Because right here today, May 12, 2021, you can make an argument about a bunch of players as No.2

Crosby, Draisaitl, Matthews, Marner, Kucherov, MacKinnon, Kane, Stone, and yes, even our own Brad Marchand.

Brad Marchand. Potentially the 2nd best hockey player on the planet.

Who ever would of thought?

Marchand used to brag about his achievements, since then he matured and now he let's others talk about his achievements.

Can some one please send me a colour copy of Marchand receiving his 2021 Con Smyth trophy? I would really appreciate it. I’m 51 and have never been so confident that we will win the cup.
