His plus minus is getting worse, he had the worse plus minute on the entire team last season while three of his teammates were high plus players. Now of course that must be the fault of his d partners, and his ice time is getting less as Slbinhas passed him. Now people won't like the +/- but it is a stat, and when others have +23 and he is -19, it speaks volumes . He will never get you Pasta and the Bruins already have dmen better than him, not required.

Like I said, the more you post, the worse you look. Let's go 1 by 1.

1) "He's regressing badly": He's only been in the league 2 years and was better in his 2nd year than 1st.

2) "No way he gets you Pasta": That may be true, but you failed to recognize that a Bruins fan started this thread, not a Canes fan. ;)

3) "He will continue to decline": Again, failing to recognize that he's only 20, only been in the NHL 2 years and improved from year to year. don't think you know what "decline" means.

4) "He has an extremely low hockey IQ":
When asked what he can improve on, you go ahead and pick something that is not measurable. I could easily pick out some tangible things that he needs to improve on (as any player could), yet you failed to do so which indicates to me you either haven't watched him much, or weren't able to identify those.

5) "When he came into the league he showed great promise": Um, actually he didn't. He actually looked like he wasn't ready for the NHL when he came into the league, which isn't a surprise given he had 1 real year of higher level competitive hockey before jumping to the NHL (a year in which he was one of the younger NCAA players I believe). Anybody who expected him to be a top 4 D from day 1 was either blind or incredibly naive.

6) "Werenski with the jackets for example, he is solid no matter who he is with"
Love this one, as I pointed out, Werenski played almost exclusively with Jones. So you seem to have just pulled that one out of thin air.

7) "His ice time is getting less as Slavin has passed him."
2015/16 ES TOI/GP: 15:26; Total TOI/GP: 17:54
2016/17 ES TOI/GP: 15:51; Total TOI/GP: 17:55

What is this "ice time getting less' you speak of?

And the Pièce de résistance?

8) "His plus minus is getting worse"

Slavin is an above average dman, Hanifin is not, doubt he e ercgets there.

Hanifin's an average defenseman right now. Why would a defenseman not ever improve after his 20 y/o sophomore season?

You've embarrassed yourself in this thread and this is as good a time as any to stop digging.

Yep, he took the bait on that one. Not even worth responding to at this point.

he was -19 on the season, but +2 for the final two months of the season after being promoted to the 2nd pair.

How is that regressing? it's literally the exact opposite of that.

Also:
Zaitsev was -22
OEL was -25
Ghost was -21
Reilly was -20
Muzzin was -21
Ekblad was -23

Also, which three of his teammates were high plus players? Pesce and Slavin yes, but they played most of the season paired together. Who's the 3rd? Perhaps you are referring to Lee Stempniak and his +2, or Valentin Zykov and Lucas Wallmark who were each +1 while playing 10 games between them total. Certainly you would not be referring to the dearly departed Hand Grenade Hainsey, who needed to get a +8 in his stint with the Penguins just to end up a -8 on the season. Or the legendary wrecking crew of Matt Tennyson, Ryan Murphy, Jakub Nakladal and Klas Dahlbeck. LOL

Saitsev was plus 3 during a three week period in Feb
OEL was plus on the first week of Jan
Ghost was plus 5 during Mar
Reilly has bad defensive partners, not his fault
Muzzin was plus 2 first week of the season
Ekbld was plus one in the last game of the season.

Pretty easy to spot pick.

This is getting embarrassing

re·gres·sion
rəˈɡreSH(ə)n/
noun
noun: regression; plural noun: regressions

1.
a return to a former or less developed state.

I thought I would define the term for you, since you apparently have no idea whatsoever of its meaning.

in the absence of a point of your own, you unwittingly make the points of the posters you are (apparently?) opposing

So Pasta has one 70 point season, And all of a sudden he's a 70 point Winger. I would wait and see if he can put up more then one 70 point season before i would call him a 70 point Winger.

I am pretty sure most reasonable people would say he is a 70 point forward if he is coming off of a 70 point season. That is kind of the criteria.

This is hilarious , not very good at this are you ?
Never understood why people find it necessary to try & trash a player to put across their opinion .
Well done Canes fans for showing restraint .

I would consider a trade like Pastrnak & Lauzon for Hanifin, Teravainen, and a 1st

Well it's not like he's a 10 year vet who always scored 50 points a year, and magically had a single 70 point season.

It was his third year, he first full year in the league. A bigger role with him playing in the top-6 and have first unit power-play time. He has always scored at a great rate, he simply went from playing 14 minutes a night to 18 minutes a night. He also went through an elbow procedure that hampered his scoring for a while, recovered and still managed to post a 70 point season in 75 games.

So in his first season as a primary scoring option, he had 70 points as a 20 year old. He could very well surpass those totals next year if he continues to develop (as he should)

Safe enough to say that Pastrnak has the talent to be a consistent 70-point player, which is why a lot of Canes fans here are relatively willing to give Hanifin+ for him.

I would do Hanifin + 1st (or a mid-level forward prospect - Poturalski? Elynuik?) for Pastrnak and Liles. Liles would help us fill the gap of Hanifin's departure in the short term until Bean comes in or Fleury is ready to step into a 2nd pair role.

Skinner-Rask-Pastrnak
Aho-Staal-Lindholm
Stempniak-Teravainen-Williams
McGinn-Kruger-Nordstrom
Ryan

Slavin-Faulk
Liles-Pesce
Fleury-Van Reimsdyk
Dahlbeck

That's an interesting lineup. Skinner and Pastrnak on the same line would be pretty incredible.

The Bruins did not sign Liles so you can have him for free
