This season gives perspective on Tampa being swept first round after their record setting reg season….lol
The blessing and the curse of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

An NBA team wins 70 games and they’re a lock to at least make the Finals.

Hockey? You just never know.

Tampa losing that year was a whirlwind of misfortune and them not being mentally tough enough or seasoned enough to withstand a punch in the mouth.

They got a bad matchup against a gritty Jackets team with Bobrovsky in net, went up early in game 1 and thought they could coast through the first round like they did all season, got shocked with a comeback which caused them to come out rattled in game 2 and they got taken advantage of by Torts' Blue Jackets. Then Hedman got hurt and missed the rest of the series and their defense was overwhelmed, while at the same time Kucherov had a meltdown and got suspended for game 3, so all that caused them to be down 3-0 early and they kind of packed it in for game 4.

That's why they put in a lot of effort to bring in depth and tougher players the next season like Maroon, Goodrow, and Coleman for the playoff run, and it helped them get over the top.
