After that dirty hit from Sundqvist, losing Grz's passing cost us the cup....

Likeable contract for a likeable player. Terrific skater and a very smart efficient defenseman. Will be interesting to see how he handles some more responsibility.

I think you're too optimistic. The last couple of years, EVERY TIME Krug was hurt, he was the one that replaced him on the top PP and it didn't really produce results.

His dad has worked at the Garden for a long time. Must be cool to put the ice together and then go watch your son play on it.

I haven’t seen him too much but when I have I’ve seen a good D with potential. I think this will turn into a steal as earlier this coming season

Krug-light with potential to be more than he has shown thus far, with greater opportunities.

    Great deals for the Bruins!

Exactly, "rz" part is spelt like ж in Russian.

Zloty has nothing to do with that as there's "e" between "z" and "l" in Grzelcyk's name. Not to mention that "zLoty" is a word used in English, in Polish this currency is called "zŁoty" (and Ł letter in Polish is like W in Wayne).

No worries, Polish language is complicated, full of exceptions and insanely hard to learn.

The top power play had a better success rate last season with him on it. Not sure where you are getting your facts from.

Awesome thanks. I'd love to learn. I'm even debating going back to school for a second degree and if I did, Poland is at the top of my list.

    Ok, so let me explain:

"rz" is read like "zh" (Alexei Zhamnov, same sound in Polish and Russian)

"cz", which he disgracefuly (what can you expect from a Bruin, eh?) abandoned for "c" is read like "ch" (like in Czerkawski or Ovechkin, the Russian sound is softer, the Polish is like Ukrainian, but I can't expect you to understand)

    So it's:

G - like Gregory, not like George

zhel - like gel, but with "zh"

cheek - but not really ee, because "y" is pronounced as in "myth"

    Grzelczyk.

How the f*** it became a Grizzly is a mistery.

Lol, that's like 16 games total at 30mins per game...
And they were usually given offensive zone starts when the B's were behind late in a game...

Either way, stoked on this deal though, always dug Gryz, one of the smoothest at skating the puck out of the zone.

    Hopefully Seattle doesn't take him

How? They had arguably the best in the league last season and their only real loss was Krug...

He's literally better at every aspect of the game except PP/Offensive IQ and Krug also plays with a ton of heart.

    Gryz is better at:
    -D Zone breakout (incredibly elusive)
    -O Zone entry
    -Hands
    -Skating
-Defensive IQ (really good at anticipating passes in the neutral zone)

Krug skillset is rare/special though, gamebreaking ability with his passing
IMO they're not the same type of defensemen at all.

The only area they are comparable is corner/board battles... they both suck lol.

??? The best D in the league, really?

McAvoy is a fine first pair RD, Carlo is alright as a 2nd pair RD. Clifton? Meh.

Without Chara and Krug, Grzelcyk is the #1 LD, followed by? Lauzon? Moore? Zboril?

    That's weak as hell.

Let's just say we agree to disagree.

In terms of goals against, shot suppression numbers, or really any relevant defensive statistic Bruins have been the best in the league for the last three years. You'd have to attribute at least decent chunk of that to the defencemen, no? Grzelcyk is part of that, having 97th percentile xGA numbers among all defencemen with relevant ice time.

Actually looking at the numbers Grzelcyk had the best xGA/60 in the entire league out of all defencemen who played over 500 minutes. He's just a damn good defenceman that doesn't get rated as highly as he deserves.

And Chara. And potentially Rask -- who covers up a lot of mistakes.
