The Best of Richard Matheson

Seen many an adaptation of his work and well aware of his influence on horror/scifi but never read a word of his own until this short story collection. I put it down to go to sleep at night and spend the entire next day waiting to return to it. Shame on me for taking this long to pick him up.

That Andrew Yang book is excellent. Finished it in a day and a half. One of the more interesting ones I’ve read in awhile . I’ll do a proper review on it later.

Reading Seveneves again and am getting to the end of Part 2. I honestly forgot how depressing part 2 is.

Went a little book crazy for 2 weeks. Read The Seventh Scroll, the hanged man's song, the striker, breathless (dean koontz), and some seal team 7 book. Im missing one other...hmm

7th scroll was good, but only after the first 200 pages. The author wasted so much time describing useless things.

The hanged mans song was great from start to finish. Tough to put down. A relief to read after the 7th scroll

The striker was great as well. Easy to use your imagination while reading and i felt as if I had a birds eye view the whole time

Breathless was basically 4 storys in one and it was a treat to see how they all merged together. Dean could have easily wrote 4 seperate novels out of it

Couple weeks back, I was commiserating w/a co-worker about the recent demise of Sears. I don't ever remember a more iconic business death in my lifetime (bcuz of Sears combined mail order & retail store power, they were basically Amazon & Wal*Mart when I was coming up).. After this water cooler conversation, I went online looking for a read covering Sears' decline.. but found the opposite. A 1977 book on Sears' historical ascent to the top of retail. I never really saw a book on it's demise (?)
This was a cheap, used copy & is good so far.

TLoLL is one of my favorite books I've read over the past few years. Interesting mix of styles, fantasy and humor surrounding a heist plot. I've seen it described as Ocean's 11 in a fantasy setting and I think that isn't too far off.

The other books in the series are good but not as good as this one, in my opinion, That doesn't mean they aren't worth following up with, however, it's just that Locke Lamora is that good.

This was on my list to start after Wheel of Time. I imagine sometime around Christmas I'll be picking them up.

Tackling this behemoth now after having owned and been intimidated by it for years. I always knew WoT was a requirement for any fantasy fan worth his salt but man, such an undertaking. Currently about 2/3 through book 2.

Crown of Swords by Robert Jordan, It's part of the Wheel of Time series (the 7th book) and famously the first of the 'slowdown' books where there is more of a focus on world-building and fleshing out characters than on moving the plot forward. I really liked it

I read a bit of Robbe-Grillet but not much. I had also started Philip Roth's I Married a Communist. I liked both but didn't do the reading I wanted to do during my flights home. After picking up a couple of more books this morning walking home, I think I will go with this.

Author states that a lot of 'grunge' insiders felt their music scene had been misrepresented.. So he let them remember/attest first-hand.
Book is comprised of random, interpersonal memories from the early days & clubs of Soundgarden, etc & proto-grunge groups. Some of the memories are cool insights & some are just brief nostalgia-waxing. 70 pages in, the author is living up to his objective of a first-hand 'oral history'.

I watched his documentary the other night , after hearing about him in the news and wanted to check him out. Surprisingly to me I came away really liking the guy, and thought this book would give me a little more insight into the man himself.

Looks interesting..
If u get time, post your thoughts on it.. (thanks)

Hey - I really found this book pretty thought provoking . It’s an anti porn book written from a non religious viewpoint with a heavy focus on science & the societal harms porn is causing, especially now with high speed internet.

I don’t know if you’re on Reddit but “nofap” is huge right now. All of these guys and some women trying to quit porn and abstain from touching themselves for 90 days in order to rewire their brains. The mental health benefits are supposed to be pretty great.

I’d rate the book highly . 9/10. Quick read only 140 pages or so.
