Nice little sci-fi read based on/expanding the original V miniseries. Think I read it when I was a kid, but it's still cool revisiting & mentally picturing the original 80s cast.

Right around this time 500 years ago, Fernão de Magalhães was setting sail on an epic voyage.

I read this author`s book on Columbus (The Four Voyages - excellent book), so this one interests me too. Magellan actually sailed from the same port as Columbus third voyage - Sanlucar de Barrameda, Spain.

Set in 1492, a monk has the ability to see & dispatch demons.. I'm about 3 chapters in.. I don't read much fiction, but it's interesting & entertaining so far. Cool cover art also ^

About a third of the way through, she and I had the same childhood in more ways than one.
Good read, even more if you're into her music.

Lots of new words for me but an interesting life. The excerpts of his work in the book show why he was a gifted writer and well read.

Book looks good, but my public library didn't have a hard copy version (only digital).. but I found a different version. Apparently the author subsequently released a shorter version of this book (200 pages) for a younger audience. I don't really need the original 450+ page treatment, so I'm content to read this abbreviated one. I'm a history buff, appreciate u mentioning this book/subject matter.

You're welcome. Found it a great historical read, I believe the translation of Antonio Pigafetta's journal/diary is at Project Gutenberg which I would also like to read (the basis for much of Laurence Bergreen's book). It was an incredible voyage.

Sweet, book people!

Working my way through "The World According to Garp" right now, I've been on a fiction bender lately. Love the style of this one and I have no idea where it's headed, looking forward to the rest of it though.

Finally getting around to reading The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan.
About 7 months later and I'm just starting book 11. The last few books have been dragging on quite a bit, but I understand that is a common criticism for this point in the series. Excited for the culmination of the series, and for the final 3 books written by Brandon Sanderson, who is currently my favourite fantasy writer.

Finished Dark Matter a few weeks ago and I am on to The Whisper Man. I really hope the movie adaptation of Dark Matter isn't ruined by some stupid hollywood extra crap.
