This is always a fun thread. Figured it was a good time to get this rolling.
Got any predictions for the 18/19 season? Could be Wings related or league related. I'll start:

Howard is moved at the deadline.
Rasmussen hits 40 points.
Larkin and Mantha combine for 60 goals.

I'll use this thread as more of a 'wishes' type of thing.

Zadina plays and has 60 points as a rookie.
One of Hronek or Cholowski has a Gostisbehere like rookie season and announces themselves as an elite offensive defenseman.
Holland makes an actual hockey trade that helps this team right now and in the future (trading for a young defenseman, somehow getting Trouba or someone like that).
Even with all of the above, both Howard and Bernier suck and the team gets another top 6 pick.

Bertuzzi scores 50+ points. And more importantly, established himself as a future elite level/core piece player that we can happily build around.

No specific numbers, but everyone will be very happy having with Michael Rasmussen at season's end.

And I dug up my post from the 2016 thread.
Optimistic: Riley Sheahan takes a big step forward and shows that he is the answer along with Larkin as the 1-2 combination of centers that a very good team needs

Pessimistic: Athanasiou plays in 50+ NHL games with an increase in minutes. We see that he is MUCH closer to the 14 points/season player than the 2.52 points/60 player in the long run

Edit: Its been mentioned that we're not bold enough so I'm getting bolder:
Rasmussen has a successful 2W+ PP campaign. 45 points, 25 are goals, 20 on the PP.

Zadina plays the final 60 games, he puts up 20 goals and 45 points in that time, scoring 10+15 in the last twenty games when he gets put with Larkin and Mantha.

Larkin and Mantha each take steps forward. Larkin 25+55=80 points. Mantha 35+35=70.

AA and Nyquist are moved at the deadline for a late first a piece. Each thrives immediately with their new team. They play against each other in the cup final, AA getting the GWG in 2OT game 7 on a Bobby Orr one in five full length rush.

The defense is extra extra terrible this year. Kronwall and Ericsson completely fall apart, but Daley is our worst defenseman after returning from an early injury completely unable to play Luckily Hronek (15+25) and Green provide good offense. We get scored on a ton no matter who is out there.

Bernier starts 50 of the last 60 games.

Abdelkader, Helm and Nielsen take criticism from the next generation for being worse hockey players than them with too much TOI. They get ousted as poor leaders and bad locker room guys. Blashill doesn't demote then until the end of the year. The team promptly goes on a Larkin, Mantha, Zadina, Rasmussen and Hronek lead winning streak.

We finish last but get 4th overall, we're the first team to take a D at the draft.

Detroit finishes with the 3rd worst record, but wins the lottery, with Ottawa and Montreal sliding to 2 and 3, respectively.

Jack Hughes is the clear #1, but questions linger about whether he projects better as a winger than a center.

A defenseman rises through the ranks to become the clear #2.

Detroit trades down to #2 with Ottawa, getting multiple extra picks, and still lands the defenseman of their dreams.

- Rasmussen will be Wings 2nd best forward from the start (if Zetterberg is unavailable to play) and never looks back.
- Vanek will NOT be traded
- Howard will be traded, but also re-signed at next summer.
- Either of Ericsson or Daley will be traded at the deadline with 50% retention.

1) Zetterberg hangs up the skates, creating an opening night roster spot for Zadina.

2) Zadina has a Laine-esque rookie season and becomes a Calder finalist

3) Howard nets a 2nd at the TDL

4) Dallas, desperate for scoring depth on the wing, overpays for Nyquist, sending DRW their 2019 1st, they miss the playoffs, leaving the Wings with 2 lottery picks.

5) Wings finally win the lottery, nab Jack Hughes

6) They use the 2nd 1st for a future #1D (Philip Broberg and Bo Byram both looked good at the Hilinka-Gretzky last week)

Rasmussen impresses in TC becoming the 3C, Blashill said yesterday he'll be getting SOME reps at center. Bold prediction is he takes the opportunity of Z being gone and runs with it. (Realistically, he will be on the wing with Helm or AA at 3C)

Team finishes 9th in the East - Mantha scores ~35, Zadina comes up late and finishes with ~20, Larkin continues to look like a mid-low-end 1C (not meant as a knock), picks around 15th (BPA is a winger). Blash gets 3 year extension. Hronek and Cholo play ~10 games, but start and end in GR. Hicketts is the new Jensen. Everyone on the main boards still hates Ras, even after he's in the Calder conversation all year. Jimmy gets a 3 year, NMC extension in the offseason. Everyone spends most of June salivating over Karlsson, who's still unsigned in Ottawa, hoping he takes our call (he doesn't). We sign Edler for 4 years, instead.

None of that is bold lol.

only 9 players postlockout year have scored goals or points at that rate at age 20 or less and on their rookie years. 7 of them are elite players + skinner and boeser.

others aren't bold except the mike green one. on both parts. he has played 75 games once in the past decade (and not once more than that).

As I was reading through all the posts so far I was coming to say we might as well just change the title of the thread because no one wants to be bold

Mine was bold!! We haven't had a drafted defenseman score more than 20 points in a season other than Kronwall in 20 years and I wish/predicted Hronek or Cholo to get 50+.
