Because Mr. Beams brought it up, and because most of our Summer discussions right now are literally us predicting everything, may as well put it in one place instead of 6!

Only the boldest of predictions. I don't care if you think Johnny's getting 85 points this year. Not bold enough.

Did we start a "bold predictions" thread for 2018-19 yet? This is mine.

I think by seasons end, Samuel L. Bennett will be our #2 centre.

Why?

Anecdotally, players of his type usually break out around age 22-23. I think he has all the tools and the requisite knowledge, he just can't seem to do more than one thing at a time right now and as a result he looks like complete garbage about 70% of the time.

Typically it takes a couple of years to put that all together - and (as an aside) that's why young players coming in running purely on adrenaline aren't subject to those concerns because they're too excited and hopped up on endorphins to actually think while they're out there - it's purely reactionary.

Very bold.

Lets see how bad this one ages.

I like the positive and negative idea.

Positive prediction: Backlund puts up 60 with Tkachuk and Neal flanking him

Negative prediction: Ryan puts up <20 points

I like that idea too:

Positive prediction:Bill Peters is competent, and therefore the Flames stomp through the Pacific.
Negative prediction: Ferland outscores one or both of Lindholm or/and Neal

Sam Bennett & Mark Jankowski will each score 20 goals, 40 points.
Sean Monahan scores 45 goals and leads the Flames in points.
Johnny Gaudreau scores 35 goals.
Noah Hanifin scores 40 points.
Elias Lindholm becomes a fixture on the top line, puts up more assists than his career high in points.

Positive: Bennett and Lazar break 45 points

Negative: By mid-season Backlund falls to third line duties as others pass him on the depth chart. Still puts up 45 points but is no longer on the PP.

Bold prediction: Oliver Kylington wins a spot on Flames D(looking at what he has been doing, he is ready to go.)

Not so Bold prediction: Lazar has trouble staying in the Flames Lineup(Curtis Lazar seems like such a nice guy, I wish i could do mud bathing with my GF.)

PS: Derek Ryan has the cutest kids.

Hot take: I heard Pronman on the radio this morning, he said Kylington is a better prospect than Andersson AND Valimaki.

Take Pronman was a huge grain of salt. He's the essential HF poster.
Never willing to admit being wrong, and wrong often.

You have to understand how Pronman grades to understand his rankings. I’ve followed him closely for several years now and he’s one of my favourites analysists because he will value some guys a lot differently than his counterparts and his opinions are his own. Sure he has missed on some guys, but he has also had hits on some players that others had way lower.

He’s not unitelligent lol, he follows and sees far more prospects than anyone on this board does. He just looks at things from a different POV. I really his rankings along with Grant McKagg and Button because they don’t conform.

Negative: Significantly poor performances in terms of players matching personal career highs.

Negative: no wins in Anaheim

Positive: only one loss in BOA

Positive: make it past second round ploffs

Extra: Peters drive in puns do not take off this season
