Here is a "rookie photo" of Bobby Orr, which obviously means 1966/67. Any idea what game it is? All we know so far is it's a home game...

If it’s from ‘67 it’s not a home game. Teams wore white on the road that season.

The boards look like the Detroit Olympia.

Bobbyorr.net has a photo dated March 18 1967 that looks like it could be from the same game based on the composition.

Bruins played 6 other games in Detroit that season.

I think it's a home game. Here is a pic made in Boston Garden in late 1966:

OK apparently that game was in Detroit after all... is the caption wrong then? Weird.

That's a sick picture (as I proceed not too include picture in my attempted reply...)

Television first began to air games in color about this time, but many were still showing in black-and-white, and not every home had a color set.

As a game in Boston would otherwise feature a home team in yellow jerseys and a road team in white -- very little contrast -- they occasionally reversed the home-road convention when the Bruins played at home before the cameras.

Edited to add: You may also find an occasional photograph featuring the home Bruins in yellow and their visiting opponent wearing the home-colored jersey anyway. Again, to provide contrast for black-and-white photography and broadcasting.

Edited to add: Before long, the Bruins switched to black and brown uniforms at home, and the contrast issue became moot. Now that almost everyone watches in color, white vs yellow isn't a big deal any more.
