i read recently that the main reason for hull attempting his 1981 comeback with the new york rangers was to reunite with his linemates in winnipeg anders hedberg and ulf nilsson.

does anyone know if they actually played together during the rangers pre-season tour in europe that year.

Ulf Nilsson picked up a knee injury in the 1981 Canada Cup that put him out for a couple of months, but Bobby Hull and Anders Hedberg actually played together for the Rangers in the Dagens Nyheter Cup that September. Their linemate varied (Peter Wallin, Mikko Leinonen).

    Results:
Djurgårdens IF - New York Rangers 1-5
New York Rangers - Washington Capitals 4-1 (1 goal by Bobby Hull, the only one he scored for the Rangers)
Västra Frölunda - New York Rangers 1-7
Allmänna IK - New York Rangers 1-4

I saw Bobby Hull wearing a Ranger jersey at the Winnipeg arena. No one knew whether to cheer or what. He did fire a pretty wicked wrist shot at the Jets goalie in that game.
