If I got the chance to see one athlete play in his prime, Gibson would be it. It’s so interesting to contrast how competitive and intimidating he was on the mound with how kind and gracious he was off the field. Hearing him talk pitching is fascinating. He had that swagger/confidence/arrogance, whatever you want to call it, that he owned the plate and you were not going to feel comfortable on or near his “property”. Just a total bad ass of a man. Cardinals organization has been hit hard the past few weeks.
