Oh Baby! Bob Cole returns to Hockey Night in Canada for one last season | The Star
I grew up on Bob Cole and Harry Neale at HNIC. Tremendous delivery, and I wish him all the best.
I can still hear him saying Dee-TROY-it, during those Red Wings playoff runs...
He is still one of the best and most iconic voices in hockey. Will miss his calls.
Damn, Bob Cole and Harry Neale were the voice of my childhood.
I know I am in the minority--but it is over due
Hope they are all Leafs games.
Godspeed. One of the most iconic voices in the games history.
Bob and Harry were the voices I always heard when I first started watching hockey on a regular basis, you never quite get over that. Can't wait to hear your calls again Bob, and good luck!
I hope Rogers can find a way to give him a Leafs/Habs Saturday Nighter for his send off. It would be a fitting end to an illustrious career.
Edit: Just checked, the last Leafs game of the year is vs the Habs on a Saturday night. If Rogers manages to botch this they are truly clueless. I also fully expect them to botch this.
Oh baby. Oh golly. Oh babygolly.
The memory is a little foggy on this one. But I seem to recall Cherry doing colour with Cole for a game. Wow, the ratings on that game would be through the roof.
I didn't like how biased he was against the Senators (well maybe not biased against but boy oh boy did he not give a **** about learning any of our players' names) but I can't not respect his body of work.
End of an era. Godspeed Mr. Cole.
Hard to say end of an era since he's been more or less out of the spotlight for a few years now. But like most others he was THE voice of hockey for me.
I mean, sure, he got the call wrong on Dallas's Cup-winning goal in 1999......sending me into hysterics at first because he had said Modano scored the Cup winner, before catching himself and saying Hull.
But he's still an absolute legend and if he isn't already in the HHOF, he's a lock.
EDIT: Nvm, he was inducted in 1996.
Will miss him, he has that magical hockey voice that has rarely been replicated.
I mean, Lee Versage from TSN1200 could probably do it nationally, but he's way too humble.
Great voice but he was way pass his prime
I feel like i've heard something like this before.
Love Bob Cole. One of the best voices in hockey. Nothing but respect for a man that called decades of hockeys greatest moments.
Should have retired 10 years ago
Best of all time, he'll be missed.....he and Harry Neale are to of the nicest people I've ever met at the rink.
As a Sens fan, good riddance. His Leafs bias was awful
A legend! but ya, way overdue.
Makes sense, he's like.. a million years old.
Maybe it's just from growing up listening to Bob and Harry, but I will always measure other broadcast tandems against them. It might just be the nostalgia talking, but not many have been better.
Can Dave Randorf retire too?
Separate names with a comma.
