Karlsson with years remaining didn’t cost a top prospect. Dzingel, Nyquist, etc. would definitely not cost us Kyrou. Panarin, Duchene, Stone, Hoffman, Huberdeau, etc. are all available as well, and while I doubt any of them return a prospect like Kyrou, we could grab the low-hanging fruit. Lots of options available.

Huberdeau is signed for 4 more years, 25 years old, and is a ppg player this season. I’d imagine he would bring back a lot.

Ottawa was bent over by the Kalsson situation, and they still got a return that is still more then we can probably afford to lose.

The bigger proble is we are hard against the cap. How do we fit any of those guys without giving up someone of close value?

You have to add at least equal cap as well. Assuming Steen would use his no trade (this being sane), our only fit is Bouwmeester which then opens a gigantic hole in our defense.

Not really. Dumping Johnson helped in this regard. We can absorb $5mm in cap space at deadline.

That means we can fit in $5mm salary at deadline. Would need to send out money to fit in Stone.
