For each stat, I'm going to include his ranks vs every goalie with a minimum of 500 minutes played. Stats will be listed in fractional format from best to worst, so a listing of T 47/93 in the SV% column would indicate that Allen was tied for 47th best in save percentage out of 93 qualified goalies with at least 500 minutes.Thanks. These are the numbers I've seen that I think don't make much sense to compare for the reason you mentioned. Is it possible to check the Blues defensive statistics vs the rest of the league from 12-present, and then compare that to Jake's statistics vs all other goalies during the same span? I believe that would be more informative (if possible). I really don't know anything about Corsi or Fenwick or anything other than the usual.

BadgersandBlues said:It's pretty tough to get a fair read on a coach who's got a goalie that can't stop a beachball. I'm not a Yeo apologist, but I think we've started a narrative here that isn't totally fair. Last year we went in with 4 top 6 players and then one of them got hurt. This year we went into the season with a goalie who we KNEW could struggle, and has. At the end of the day, the buck stops with the coach. If we fire him, so be it.
I took this from the main boards. ( I hope the poster won't mind!) I anticipate a lot of disagreement, but this bothers me more than anything about the team right now. This post really stung. The Blues are soft. We are no longer the difficult PITA team we used to be. There have been similar posts from other non-Blues fans. I really think the Blues have to recover that edge.Yeo's Ok. Just a little tight and system heavy.
Bad goaltending will make any coach look bad.
On other thing. Every year under Yeo, the Wild went through a crisis, where they looked awful. After that, they went on runs where they looked terrific. Not saying it's going to be the same here, but STL has the talent, with a #1 Dman, a #1 C, a quality sniper, and some quality depth. What they seem to have lost over the last 2-3 years is that nasty physical edge that they used to play with, and made them very difficult to play against.
There's not much to disagree about. Blues are soft. Backes, Brouwer, and Reaves made that 2015 team tough as nails. Those guys were monsters on the forcheck. Now we have Eddy...and that's it. Blues need Schenn to play his tough style, and MAROON. He needs to be leading the team in hits. Paryako is picking up his physicality.I took this from the main boards. The Blues have drastically improved their prevention of high danger chances. We now are top 10 in the league in fewest high danger chances allowed.
High danger chances against--Blues are ranked 7th with only 107 HDCA allowed.
High danger goals against--25 goals allowed on high danger chances--Blues are ranked last in the league with the most high danger goals allowed.
Nashville, with almost exactly the same high danger chances against, has allowed only 7 goals on high danger chances.
These are 5 v. 5 stats.
The only gripes I've seen is the reliance on an elite goalie. His defensive system leaves the low alot vacant. Not my personal view, just what I've readSo what are the gripes with AV, and how do they compare to what we witness with Yeo?
I'm looking back at everything and it looks like he took almost what is a 1 line team deep into the playoffs. We appear to have more depth than most of those canuck teams
Edit: alternatively, Q
Blues please give me a great 45th birthday gift and bring Q in!!

For team defense, I'm going to use the following all-situation (not just 5v5) stats: GA (Goals Against), xGA (Expected Goals Against), SA (Shots Against), SCA (Scoring Chances Against - NaturalStatTrick), HDSCA (High Danger Scoring Chances Against - NaturalStatTrick)
For goalie stats, I'm going to use the following all-situation (not just 5v5) stats: GAA (Goals Against Average), GSAA (Goals Saved Above Average - NaturalStatTrick), GSAAC (Goals Saved Above Average - Corsica), GAR (Goals Above Replacement - Corsica), SV% (Save Percentage), HDSV% (High Danger Save Percentage - NaturalStatTrick), LDSVC% (Low Danger Save Percentage - Corsica), MDSVC% (Medium Danger Save Percentage - Corsica), HDSVC% (High Danger Save Percentage - Corsica)
*Team defense stats for this year will be per 60 minutes to account for differences in games played.
