Tonight we get to see Angry Bouw.

I won't begrudge if he can be a 3rd pairing guy and works some rust off. I honestly thought his skating was recovered enough to be a useful player. Its more about his decision-making now, but that could reasonably be attributed to rust. I'm a skeptic, but if a guy is hurt he's still the best option available.

I think that Bouwmeester-Schmaltz may ultimately settle as our best 3rd pairing, in isolation, with no consideration for salary and value. Bouwmeester looked the worst so far (disregarding Jerabek completely here) but he was coming off injury, and it was the most unstructured system I have seen in a long time too.

If they tighten things up generally, he might be able to handle the sheltered role, and if he stops pinching (please stop pinching J-Bo) it might free up Schmaltz to play his natural game.
