For nowI guess we can put away the sepeku knives and razor blades.
There was a time when everyone complained about dump and chase. It served us well tonight.
Game thoughts:
Tarasenko- you finally played the game in a way that I knew you could. It was fun to watch you do your thing again.
ROR- the engine that never quits and you finally got the reward.
Schenn- your starting to hit that groove.
Schwartz- I love your work ethic, but things aren’t clicking yet.
Perron-the points just keep flowing and your dogged quest for the puck seems to be one of the main fuel cells.
Barbashev-your defensive play hasn’t gone unnoticed.
Sanford-nice rip tonight. You also have been playing pretty well since getting back to the NHL
Steen-that hustle seems to be back. Sip from the fountain of youth?
Bozak- you looked pretty shifty out there
Maroon- even you looked pretty good
Blais- good effort all night and some smart reads and passes.
Kyrou- keep making things happen and you will move back up the lineup.
Petro- you looked Norris worthy tonight. That PKing was some fine work
Bortuzzo- you had one of those solid games tonight and engage offensively. Nice
Dunn-that swagger is back and people are noticing
Schmaltz- you are a fine NHLer. You deserve to stay in the lineup
Parayko- using your two gifts suits you. Taking shots and shielding with your frame. Stick with it!
Edmundson-your a rock dude!
Allen-staying square and calm. Remember to keep playing this way. It works!
Yeo- thanks for benching JBo. Keep this in mind all season
Yeo is incredibly slow to adjust. It's his super power. They played better defence. So, why did Yeo wait so long to insist that they do this??? This should have happened at least 4 games ago. Maybe they can play this way to keep games close WHILE the new players get used to playing with their new teammates, in a transitional period. And after 20-30 games, they can break out, and play like a contender? I'm hoping so. But, I still have that gnawing doubt that comes from not liking the way Yeo coaches.
Sneaky good, "The Magic man, now you see me, now you don't!!"I'm surprised at Sanford's ice time.
The boxscore has him listed at ~12 minutes, but for the life of me I don't remember seeing him on the ice that much.
I had some real concerns. Glad I was wrong. Can't say the boys didn't put in the effort tonight
Was telling my son that Dunn is a lot like Shatty, only a little more hardnosed.Dunn has some serious skill offensively. I like his game more than Shatty’s
He's still David Perron. Always had sick hands, too often has suck head.Exactly I was flipping out. Couldn’t believe he did that was a few questionable passes before that as well.
The thing about Sanford is you will never have to beg him to shoot it. He finds the soft areas of the ice and lets em rip. He’s got a terrific shot to boot, so he’s incredibly valuable, especially when you add his vision and forechecking. He’s a big body that can keep pucks in, and that’s exactly what we need.
When Sosh and Fabbs come back, I think Blais goes down. He’s been really good at drawing penalties, but beyond that I haven’t seen a whole lot to say he’s ready for a full-time gig above those guys and Sanford. The real question is what we do with Kyrou and Thomas. Fabbri has got to get into some games, and I think you have to see what Soshnikov can give us too. It’ll be interesting to see what happens, but I could see Kyrou in San Antonio and Thomas in Hamilton before Thanksgiving. It wouldn’t be ideal, but you can’t sit Fabbs if he’s healthy and it’ll come down to who’s better today with Kyrou and Soshnikov. Kyrou doesn’t have to clear waivers either.
This is really good read. I thought Sanford showed some nice skills when he first got here, just not strong enough. He reportedly added strength so hopefully he can stand up to NHL action. The thing about Sanford is you will never have to beg him to shoot it. He finds the soft areas of the ice and lets em rip. That's always been Tavares' game, though. Super hot for some bursts of time and then completely invisible for other bursts. It doesn't help that his skating is extremely suspect too.Did Tavares play tonight?
He was completely invisible. Seems like Babcock had so much focus on getting Kadri back to matchup role that it through off the rhythm of Taveras and Matthews. Not that I am complaining.
