Let's see. Buffalo gets a broken down old guy with injury problems and 4 more years on his $4,75 M a year cap hit and a one way winger who has been so so since his first year with a year left in his contract and with about $7 M cap hit. They get back a serviceable third line winger, 2 A prospects and save 5 million a year. Short term--Jets lose although with present circumstances the salary relief and cap hit are big pluses. Medium and long term? Sabres get hosed.

Awful trade for Buffalo.

They need a center, not another winger and Little doesn't move the needle.

I'd rather have Cozens and the 7th overall pick, over Laine and Little...and there's zero debate there.

Pretty awful valuation here.

Laine has been so so? He is 21 and would be the 2nd place scorer on the Sabres. He is going to get better. How do the Sabres lose medium and long term?

For the Jets - they lose by far the best player in the deal and get saddled with Subban and his massive contract. They gain a serviceable 3rd liner but give up 2. Cozens is a valuable add but not at the cost of Laine. Jets say no easily.
