Phoenix (AP) - The suspected has happened, and finally Craig Conroy has been delt. His destination? The Carolina Hurricanes who are 1 point out of 1st in the Eastern Conference. "We believe Conroy will be a welcome addition to Carolina on their team potentially centering the Ovechkin line which would be a great honor to him. Conroy played great for us during his time here, if the franchise wasn't in the state that it's in now, we wouldn't have moved him, he put a point per game up for us and will be greatly missed." Coming back to Phoenix is Carolina's 1st round pick in 2007 and Craig Adams. "We were being thrown some decent offers, comparable players, or a 2nd round pick, but Carolina really stepped up to the plate and showed they were really intrested in this pick, it makes them a contender which if the won the cup it would make it like an early 2nd round pick anyways. But one of my expertise so to say coming into this league is my ability to draft, and i know of several serious potential players we can acquire with this pick." Also with the addition of Craig Adams it doesn't affect the depth of the team. "Craig Adams is a capable player, and he'll be welcomed onto the team, he will be a UFA at the end of the year, but we would like to add him to the team for a longer term, we will see how negotiations with his agent goes."

Intresting to note, this deal was not made untill about 10:45pm so both players participated in the game tonight where Carolina defeated Phoenix 6-2. Conroy got on the board with the assist on the first goal for Phoenix, and intrestingly enough Craig Adams assisted on the Alexander Ovechkin goal which gave Carolina a 3-1 lead, and turned out to be the game winning goal. Adams will fly back with the team to Phoenix but WILL NOT participate in tomorrow nights game in Phoenix vs. Los Angeles. However Carolina has 2 nights off, and obviously Conroy is expected to be in Dallas for their next game, the big question is will he center the Ovechkin line?

Next on the choping block is Derian Hatcher, with Phoenix GM admitting several offers has come in, there has yet to be a team that has stepped up to the plate in the same sense that Carolina did for Conroy. "We are getting mainly 3rd round picks, or mid level prospects, if a team pushes it up a notch we are not going to back away from the offer, and Derian knows it, but at the moment is focusing on the teams immediate success, as Phoenix is still in a playoff race, and it not being a guarentee that he will be traded before the deadline whcih is about 2 1/2 weeks away."
