Thought this deserved it's own thread.
I'm fine with it as long as he plays the role of a 6th or 7th defensemen until Forsling and Murphy come back. Then he needs to be waived and Manning needs to magically disappear.
He's been better than Manning. Why couldn't we have just done this instead of that awful contract
Because Bowman saw something special in Manning!
Special is different than untapped potential.
Forsling probably will be sent to Rockford as will Joker leaving us with Manning and Davidson third pairing. Of course, sounds really bad but knowing Q this is the most likely scenario.
I highly doubt Forsling will land in Rockford this season at any point.
I’d expect him to play their on a conditioning stint minimum.
He’s depth. Meh.
As do I.
I don't hate this, but we have far too many 6/7 guys and not near enough 4/5 guys. A 6/7 is going to be playing in the top 4 no matter what until Murphy comes back.
I meant he's not going to be sent down and stay down there. He may get a conditioning stint there for a game or two, but I don't even know if that would be a sure thing. He'll be a regular on the Hawks blueline this season.
Well, Manning is a "late bloomer" according to Stan. I just hope he does a lot of blooming between what we've seen so far and what he does come 10/4.
That is my my point. Late bloomer is not special.
Couldn't we have done this using our LTIR?
I reckon the best hope for Blackhawks and fans is that Manning has a lot of Keith Magnussen in him. Not particularly skilled but has character that more than makes up for it.
blah, much better than Manning and likely equal to Gus as far as usefulness
Twice the player of Manning to a fourth of the price. There is no reason to panic for depth players on July 1st.
Solid signing for a solid price. Like others have said, this really brings the manning contract into focus.
Manning would have been a good defenseman in the 70’s.
yep, especially in the movie Slap Shot
So is Davidson in the 5/6 pair?
Or healthy scratch
Probably more accurate. How's he been playing?
Not too bad, problem is we have 3 or 4 other guys that are also 5/6/7 guys, so he'll play, but be scratched once in a while as well
Separate names with a comma.
