Blackburn question

In the most recent "Hockey News" I recieved in the mail (mine tend to get to me a bit late), there was something in there about Dan Blackburn asking for and receiving his release from "the team". As they were talking about both the Victoria team and the Rangers, it wasn't clear which team he was asking for a release from- anyone know which team it is/was?

he asked for his release from victoria...

it is rumored that for insurance purposes he has to decided if he will retire or not before playing 30 games so he didn't want to continue to play in the ECHL and wanted to save games for the AHL or NHL before making that decision.
