On the over 40 range, one tries to find ways not to be too sore and get some pep for the game. I use Beta-Alanine before the game, that's all, no pre-workout crap. During the game, standard BCAA do the trick to maintain muscle mass and reduce fatigue. After game, basic protein shake. One don't need to go for the hype, the basic stuff for specific needs works, it's not a one size fits all and some trying is required to find what feels right. It DOES make a huge difference though when you find your supplement groove.
