Columbus is really starting to turn the tide. Since JD has come in he's made some changes that, at least to me, look very positive. Some of that, of course, is out of familiarity with Jarmo.

An organization, imo, that's on the rise - we saw a good change in them and how they played last year. They made a FA splash, have brought in Gaborik - some solid center depth.

I think I also some something about Jody Shelley becoming their 'ambassador' on TSN or something.

Interesting, nonetheless.

from tsn.ca:

The Columbus Blue Jackets have hired Jody Shelley -- the club's all-time leader in penalty minutes and fighting majors -- as a broadcast associate and "team ambassador."

Shelley was one of the Blue Jackets' most popular players 2001-2008, recording 11 goals and 18 assists in 380 games with 1,025 penalty minutes. He led the club in penalty minutes four times and set the franchise record with 249 during the 2002-03 season.

The 37-year-old will provide analysis during home radio broadcasts, in addition to working occasionally as a TV commentator and interviewer and co-hosting a weekly radio show.

Shelley also played for San Jose, Philadelphia and the New York Rangers.

Does that mean Thomas will be signing with Columbus?

Eklund actually said last month that due to "ties to the front office in Columbus" Thomas was going to sign there, and now it makes sense, although I haven't heard anything about it since then. This may be the one Eklund rumor that comes true.
