So you can compare the selections my rankings would have made for your team by taking the players matching your picks range. If you have multiple picks in that range, take in order the players which are "close" (if they haven't been taken already). If you have multiple picks within a range and there is no "close" player, take the player in the following range.

I did similar post in 2013 & 2014, you can check how I have done (as you would expect some hits and misses)

Thanks for posting this. I think when the book is wrote on this draft it'll be the Islanders who are judged to have won this. Wahlstrom and Dobson back to back at 11 and 12 are quite the gets.

So what you're saying is Tampa won't hire you as a scout. I believe ever draft pick after Fortier you didn't have ranked, I don't know if you have goalies ranked but the two they picked weren't on many lists so probably not yours.

Value picks = guys we've heard of.

I mean that was to be expected. If you heard of some players pre-draft it is probably for good reasons. It is mostly guys that got drafted in the top100 anyway.

Well, they mostly had late rounders, it is not unusual to see lists wildly diverging for the late rounders. Not many lists had their picks included in them anyway. About the goaltenders, I don't hide the fact that I don't spend as much attention to that position. Will see how their picks pan out compare to who my list would have drafted at their ranks in a couple of years, I tend to compare pretty well.

Reach = A player that has been climbing
Steal = A player that has been dropping

If a player drops significantly, is it really considered steal?

If you follow my list I suggest it is, like for steals I would have expected them to be drafted way higher, obviously there will be some hits and misses, time will tell.

You missed Kurashev on your “value picks” list.

They had everything but a 1st so it wasn't like a Calgary who didn't pick until the 4th round. But drafting in general is a crapshoot as many players who were consensus top 100 or 150 didn't even get picked. I don't love their draft but that's more because I don't know if the Russian D or the Swedish goalie plan on coming over anytime soon. I like those picks as I think those guys are under the radar kids but if they don't come over for many years it's not as good a pick. We've been going with a lot of former kr current USHL kids who go the college route so we have a few more years of evaluation, we've yet to have one of them break out into a top prospect though so not confident these kids will. So I think they had one of the worst drafts of any team.

38. Filip Hallander (C) - Allsvenskan - 6’2 [58]
56. Jan Jenik (C) - Czech2 - 6’1 [65]
66. Jake Wise (C) - USDP - 5’10 [69]
71. Bulat Shafigullin (L) - MHL - 6’01 [82]
97. Slava Demin (D) - BCHL - 6’02 [99]
123. Danila Zhuravlyov (D) - MHL - 6’00 [140]
128. Blade Jenkins (C) - OHL - 6’01 [134]
133. Xavier Bouchard (D) - QMJHL - 6’04 [185]

Would have liked to move up considering that Berggren being 13th on my list was still available until at 33.

I was certian Adam Samuelsson, Nyberg, Eggenberger, Topping, Vladislav Semin, Anderson MacDonald, Schmidt-Svejstrup, Cesana, and Emanuelsson would be picked.

Lots of skill was left on the table this year!

Yep will be interesting to follow how many of these will get drafted next year. There were many overagers drafted in the later rounds this season.

After the hawks first round picks were made, I was delighted with who we picked. I would've been satisfied if we didn't draft any more good players because we don't pick until the 3rd round. Then I see that we picked wise, nordgren, and kurashev. I thought all those players should've been gone by round 2, so I think we had a pretty amazing draft after the first round. We also added a pretty solid goalie in Gravel, so I think the hawks did fantastic.

Saying that all 3 of those players were steals in my book and also the wings first 3 picks were steals as well.
