Marchand?.....

People continuing to underrate the guy, it's hilarious.

85 points in 68 games last year...
85 points in 80 the year before...

17 points in 12 playoff games last season.

There's absolutely no way that Auston Matthews is better than Brad Marchand right now.

Love Matthews but not sure he's at #10 just yet. Kopitar was a 92 point selke winner, he certainly belongs on this list.

Yeah - If this were a best players for the next 10 years he'd be on the list but I just don't see him being top 10 yet. Top 20 definitely, maybe top 15.

Kopitar/Bergeron are biggest snubs I think.

maybe they arent ignoring his 14g/58pt/-15 season the year before

because that doesnt even put him in the top 100. monster last year obviously, but he needs to put up 90+ again to get in the top 10 convo
Guy has 6 top 10 scoring finishes and 3 top 5 scoring finishes and has the 2nd most points this decade and last season.

He's not a player who has to have a "prove it year" because he simply had an injury riddled season he played the entire season hobbled.

He's more accomplished and proven than any player on this list but maybe Kopitar

how can a guy be the best scorer at ES by a lot (tied with mcdavid in 20 less games), be good in his own end, be good on the dot...and not be top 10?
Soooo.... You're trying to say Giroux, coming off a 102 point season with 5 seasons scoring much higher than Matthew's best year, while being much better defensively isn't top 10, but Matthews is?

Cool story bro

Giroux is an odd duck. Great season last year no doubt, but the two years before were incredibly disappointing. Is he just riding a ridiculous PDO-like wave or is he now a 90+ point player after three seasons of sub PPG rates?

I can see a lot of buyer beware with a 30 year old putting up a season that's so far out of line with what you came to expect his baseline to be.
His base line (average) is higher than any player in this poll.

Mack, Bergeron and Kopitar is a huge whiff.

It's funny because when you look at the list, it's kind of like, 'One of these things is not like the other'.

You have the best player on the planet.
You have the 1A 1B centres in the NHL for the past decade.
You have the 3 best dmen in hockey.
You have the best winger in hockey.
You have a generation scorer.
You have the reigning MVP.

You have a two year pro, that not regarding a very high ceiling and potential, has scored a career high of 69 points.

I really feel for Matthews. His tires are pumped like no other in the NHL, and while he's absolutely a fantastic player (please Leaf fans, no QQ), media is putting the cart wayyyy before the horse in terms of this kid. It's strange where he's bumping cup champions, guys who've been playing above his caliber for a number of years, etc. I really like him, but he doesn't fit on this list right now.

this is easily Kane if you're not just blindly looking at literally just last year

it's amazing how quickly one underwhelming season on a bad team(where he still put up 76 points no less) can make people forget how good someone is

the year before last year he was tied for second in the NHL in scoring

the year before that he lead the league by 17 points

top 5 in points the past 5 seasons:

Crosby - 418(in 348 games)
Kane - 383(in 341 games)
Backstrom - 361(in 369 games)
Benn - 357(in 363 games)
Ovechkin - 356(in 368 games)

maybe they arent ignoring his 14g/58pt/-15 season the year before

because that doesnt even put him in the top 100. monster last year obviously, but he needs to put up 90+ again to get in the top 10 convo

this post makes no sense considering you voted for a guy that put up 16 goals/53 points/-14 that same year
