Now that Ottawa has gotten off to a good start, it's pretty funny to watch the Colorado fan narrative shift from "brb measuring the Welcome to Denver Jack Hughes billboards" to "Sam Girard (and his 3 assists) is far and away the best player in the Duchene trade AINEC".
If those two D men don't turn in to anything special, we re-sign Duchene, and we don't finish bottom 10, then the Duchene trade shouldn't be viewed in the same catastrophic way it has been.

Stone is the franchise player, and natural leader of the team. Losing him would set the team back. Unless he’s absolutely sure he’s not staying, then you gotta do your best to keep him.

Duchene is overrated and has an ego. Trade him for the best value, he’s gonna command much more than he’s worth.

I don't like entertaining ideas like this at all. Stone has been through more with this team, so he's much dearer to my heart, but the idea of having made a blockbuster trade for Duchene just last year (!?) and then losing him is pretty painful as well.

Not sure about who would be the bigger loss, but a good haul for Duchene (2019 1st and at least one other blue chip piece) would compete thenSens rebuild and set them up to have one of the best teams of the 2020’s, IMO.

Because on is actually a team player who steps up, whilst the other is...pretty decent, but lacking.
It is up to Dorion though. If on January 1 at 00:01 Stone is not re-signed, it's on him.
