In my entire life, I’ve never seen an era in any sport where fans got to witness not one, not two, but three of the greatest players to ever pick up a racket. Federer, Nadal and Djokovic are transparently the three greatest players in men’s tennis history right now and their domination doesn’t seem to be ending anytime soon. It’s more than likely that we’ll never see another era like this in any sport for decades to come.

Bottom line, us tennis fans have been more spoiled than Boston sports fans over the last 15 years or so

I think it’s like this in most sports now. Training and diets are now a science compared to the past when everything was an old wives tale.
Yea I mean if you look around the sports world, older players are thriving a lot more than before.

Tennis: The big three and Serena are still viewed as the top dogs

Football: Messi and Ronaldo are still far and away the two best players on planet Earth. Don't let the whack Ballon D'Or rankings tell you otherwise

Basketball: LeBron is still the best player in the world despite being 34, and after LeBron, it's players like Curry, Durant, Harden and Westbrook who are all gonna be 30+ in 2019. Also, look at players like 42 yr old VC who can still do in game dunks, and the fact that players like Tim Duncan were still elite at age 40

American Football: Tom Brady just made another SB at 41 yrs of age and is showing no signs of slowing down. His contemporaries such as Brees, Rodgers, Big Ben and Rivers are all 35+ and still going strong. Peyton Manning also went out on top when he was 40 and was still dominant into his really late 30's.

Olympics: Phelps and Bolt were both already 30+ in the '16 Olympics and they were still dominating the gold medal podiums in their respective sport.

Hockey is the only sport where the "top dog" tag has actually been handed over to younger players
