IIRC, Doug Gilmour, Dave Andreychuk and Larry Murphy all scored their 1000th points as members of the Leafs during the 1995-96 season. Gilmour is known best as a leaf, but played more games with the Blues & Flames. Andreychuk was mostly a Sabre & Lightning, and Murphy is anything but a Leaf when you think back to his career.

Sergei Fedorov played his 1,000th game in Columbus.

That's also where Ken Hitchcock got his 500th win.

First time (of two so far) when two team-mates both scored their 50th goal of the season in the same game happened at neutral site game in Cleveland: 1993 with Mario Lemieux and Kevin Stevens doing that against Oilers.

Only other time was three years later when Lemieux and Jagr did it. In 1994 Brendan Shanahan and Mike Modano did it in the same game with different teams.

Why where they playing in Cleveland?

For 2 seasons (1992-93 and 1993-94) the NHL had games in neutral sites, as in different cities as a way to promote the league. Each team hosted one game, which is why 84 games were played that year.

Games were held in future NHL cities like Phoenix, Atlanta and Minnesota, and other places like Cleveland and Halifax. But because the average attendence of these games was terrible, the concept was abandoned. I think the first lockout also played a part in that.

As for the topic on hand, Bure's first 50th goal game against the Sabres in a neutral-site game in Hamilton.

Frank Mahovlich getting his 500th career goal and 1000th career point wearing a Montreal Canadiens jersey. I'm sure that didn't go down well with a lot a Leaf fans.

Thanks for all the insight on the neutral site games. I always wondered why there were 84 games played in those seasons.
