31 Thoughts: Team owners played key role in Erik Karlsson trade - Sportsnet.ca
Being not good and limiting yourself to like 3-5 teams is not a great business strategy. I get it though. He’s played lots of years and wants to retire in California. Can’t blame him for that.
beggars cant be choosers dog
Sharks would be a good fit.
Need to offset that Karlsson acquisition.
Bakersfield is in California.
Report: Bieksa about to retire
that confidence he has in himself is something else. he has a case for being the worst defenseman in the league
At this point, it's like me saying I'm only willing to play for the Leafs. Sounds great, but somehow I doubt they (or anyone else) would be interested.
I don't even want him on the Barracuda.
He was done 5 years ago.
I thought he was retired lol
Nah, it's more likely he's made over $40M in his NHL career and other things are more important to him than hockey. He'll play on his terms or not at all. Don't blame him.
I don't think he'd make their top six.
Hed be a great fit in LA or SJ.... pref their top 4
honestly any team thats not my team amirght lol
Arizona is close to California, they should consider him as their other option.
Teams not near California should be sighing in relief.
Because no one will actually read the link. Quite clear about why.
8. Kevin Bieksa said Tuesday that he was talking to an NHL team as recently as two weeks ago about something for this season, but ultimately said no because it meant living alone too far from his family. “My wife (Katie) is very supportive about me playing if I want to. Same with my father and my brothers. Saying no was not their decision. But being away from my children at this time in their lives is not something I’m interested in at this point in their lives.”
His son is turning 11, his daughter nine. He’s taking them to school every day, attending their extra-curricular pursuits, happy to be a dad. “I’m not retired, but it would have to be something close to home (California).”
9. Asked if he was still training, Bieksa answered. “Yes, as if I was going to play.” He’s scheduled to compete in what is called a Spartan obstacle race next month in Dallas. It’s a four-mile run with more than 20 obstacles. “I’m still in better shape than 95 per cent of the players and 100 per cent of the media.”

Here ya go, Kevin.
Wouldn't he have a good chance to fill the 1C role in Montreal? Montreal has California-like weather, I hear..................
He doesn't want to move his family, it's nothing to do with how he views himself.
I'm sure he will be a valuable contributor for the San Diego Gulls as they attempt to return to the playoffs
AHL hockey is his best bet then.
All of the California NHL teams appear to be pretty set on D.
Just retire and go live in California then
