Crosby had 69 even strength points this season...McDavid had 81... Crosby was 8th in even strength points this season...

Pure 5v5 numbers, McDavid had 64, Crosby had 61...this year.
McDavid was 3rd, Crosby 4th.

Last year, McDavid had 71, the closest player in the league to him was Kucherov with 59.

League scoring is up this year overall. What McDavid did last year was far better than Crosby...Crosby didn't even beat McDavids output this year.

Last note. Connor last year had one of the best 5v5 seasons in what, 20+ years or something?
Crosby didn't even have the best 5v5 season this year.

McDavid is probably in or entering his peak, so it only makes sense for him to have a better season than Crosby who's 31. If not, that would be a huge disappointment on Connor's part.

In 17-18 McDavid had the most even strength points of any player since Jagr in 1995-96.

McDavid’s 5 v 5 season last year was ridiculous

McDavid was historically dominant at ES last year. He was the Art Ross trophy winner least reliant on the powerplay dating back to Bobby Hull in 1960.

He also led the NHL in ES scoring by a 25.4% margin. The only players who have ever done that (going back to 1950) are Wayne Gretzky (six years in a row) and Gordie Howe (twice).

McDavid's 2018. Crosby's been amazing this year -- arguably his best regular season since he won the Art Ross in 2014 -- but McDavid was on another level last year compared to the rest of the pack.
